Malvern Preparatory School was founded primarily for those students who not only have intentions of going on to institutions of higher learning but also have shown the required talent to do so.
Academic Excellence The Mission Statement for Malvern Prep guides it to strive for “Academic Excellence.” In 2001, the faculty and administration began an intensive review of its entire curriculum in order to give definition to the goal of “academic excellence.” With Christ as the example and informed by Augustinian values, students will obtain the following standards. They will...
1. Have knowledge of Augustine’s life and thought; 2. Understand the role of ethics, morality and social responsibility in all disciplines and in the conduct of their lives; 3. Understand the four elements of health: physical, mental/emotional, social and spiritual; 4. Know the principles of effective listening, speaking, reading, writing and thinking; 5. Understand the types of problems they face inside and outside of academia, and will know the tools and methods for successfully solving them; 6. Know the interrelationships of all disciplines; 7. Have mastery of basic grammar, usage, vocabulary and composition; 8. Know the methods for creating, defending and presenting a thesis; 9. And, know how technology can be used as a research and communication tool in all disciplines.
The Malvern graduate should be prepared academically, spiritually, socially and emotionally to face the challenges of the 21st century, and he should be able to assume a leadership role in society.
