Thanksgiving Food Drive Has Low Turnout - Usually our collection brings in over 10,000 cans of food. Unfortunately, as of today we have only about 1,000. I have had to call some of the agencies who normally receive cans from us and tell them they will not have anything from Malvern this year. These agencies supply food baskets for needy families for Thanksgiving. They will not be in a position to do that this year since donations are down all over. Please consider helping a local family by sending your son in with a few cans of food. The food drive ends on Tuesday, November 18. Thank you for your generosity!
Midnight Run - Our first Midnight Run is the night of Tuesday, November 25. A group of seniors and adults will go up to Manhattan to feed and clothe the homeless. I have lost my connection with Tastykake and am in need of donations. If you could send in a box or two of any kind of individually wrapped cake we can use them. Just have your son drop them off by the water cooler in St. Rita’s. We also need candy. If you have any left over candy from Halloween please send that in also. Our clothing collections are down also. If you have any warm men’s clothing please drop them off in St. Rita’s. We are desperate for packages of new underwear - shirts, boxers, and briefs all men’s sizes. As of today we have no gloves or hats. If you are in the store and see a sale on any of these items please consider buying something for a homeless man.

Empty Bowls Tickets on Sale Now
Point Person: Kate Plows, Ceramics Teacher - 484-595-5203
Empty Bowls is a national organization that has been supporting thousands of events worldwide since 1990. The way Empty Bowls works is simple. Malvern students, faculty and staff will create ceramic bowls, then serve a simple meal of soup and bread. Our soup is being donated by Mr. Tom Gray and the cafeteria staff. Guests choose a bowl to use that day and to keep as a reminder that there are always Empty Bowls in the world. Most of the bowls are being made community style, meaning different artists may work with the bowls at different stages of their creation. Some bowls will also be presented as Silent Auction Pieces.
Tickets are $25 and include a selection of one bowl, a soup dinner and admission to the Silent Auction and Sales Gallery at the event, which will be held in Stewart Hall. All proceeds will be donated to the Bethesda Project (www.bethesdaproject.org). For two weeks, tickets will be sold to the Malvern Community, only. Seating is limited to 300 guests, and this event WILL SELL OUT. Get your ticket orders in soon as there will NOT be tickets available at the door.
For more information and a ticket order form, visit www.mpemptybowls.org.
