Q. What is the Text Alert Network?
A. Malvern Prep's Text Alert Network is a service allowing registered users to receive text messages from the school's adminstration.
Q. Why should I register?
A. First and foremost, student and campus safety. When you register for this service, you will be alerted in the event of a school emergency that might require early dismissals, campus lock-down or any other safety measure. In some cases, the status of school opening may change while you are enroute to school. This service will allow us to inform you of instances such as these.
Secondly, you can be notified of special school announcements such as snow closings, changes in after school activities or athletics, and other news and information.
Q. How do I register?
A. Registration is available online in the Parents and Students section of the Malvern Prep website. Because this service is exclusive to select Malvern Prep constituents, you must login to the Malvern Prep Website to gain access the Text Alert Network registration page. Malvern Prep login accounts are distributed in early September of the given academic year. Please contact the school webmaster for questions regarding your Malvern Prep website login. You may also contact our Director of Campus Security regarding registration for the Text Alert Network.
Q. I set up my account, but I did not receive a validation code.
A. Log back in your account via My Account. Check that you entered the correct phone number and carrier. Correct any information necessary and resubmit. If you continue to not receive a validation code, it is possible that your cell phone account does not allow for the receipt of text messages. Please contact your cell phone carrier to upgrade your account.
*Note to Verizon Subscribers: If you did not receive a validation code during the registration process, please change your carrier setting to Verizon Alternative and re-submit
Q. Do I need to remember my validation code?
A. Once you have successfully registered for your account and validated your cell phone through the validation process, you no longer will need your validation code. However, for future updates to your account or to add a second phone, you will need your the User ID and Password you specified during the registration process.
Q. How many cell phone numbers can I register for this service?
A. Two per enrolled Malvern Student. For example, if you have one child enrolled at Malvern Prep, then your family may register two cell phones. If you have three children enrolled, then your family may register six cell phones.
Q. How do I add another cell phone to my account?
A. Once you set up an account with one phone, simply log back into your account via My Account and add a second phone.
To add a second phone:
- Login to your Mobile Text Alert Network account
- Following login, you will be directed to your account Dashboard.
- Select the Services tab.
- Follow prompts to register your second phone.
This process can also be used to register email addresses.
Q. Will I be charged for text messages I receive?
A. Through its commitment to student and campus safety, Malvern Prep has allocated finanical resources to provide this service to its community members. However, the minimal cost of the individual text messages will be incurred by the owner of the cell phone service contract. Please check with your carrier as charges may vary.
Q. What are the Optional Groups?
A. The Optional Groups are the groups from which you would like to receive information. The more Groups you select, the more text messages you will receive. While we invite you to select all Optional Groups that interest you, we recommend that you select Campus Public Safety Group. As a member of The Campus Public Safety Group you will receive alerts regarding School Closing, Early Dismissals and Emergency Notifications.
If not Optional Group is selected, you will not receive any text notifications.
