Despite a power outage that wiped out the Saturday shows and delayed the Sunday curtain time, the Malvern Theatre Society put on an electric performance of the musical Fiddler on the Roof this past weekend.
“Through all the trauma of the weekend, the very high ‘ups’ and the very low ‘downs,’ our kids were the best,” said Rich Roper, Director of the Theatre Society. “It took quite a large amount of work and stress to make this production happen, but never did they lose heart, never did they lose focus, never did they lose enthusiasm.”
The musical featured memorable performances by seniors John Scargall as Tevye, Kevin Cirilli as Motel, the Tailor, and Dan Hegarty as Perchik, the Student. The approximately 115 students from Malvern, Villa and Notre Dame who made up the cast and crew balanced the unforeseen obstacles and overcame the uncertainty of the power outage to put on the production, which Mr. Roper quipped, “turned out to be a very appropriate choice.”
