On Saturday, May 3, Malvern’s singers, musicians, actors and artists showed with skill and talent just how far the School’s arts program has grown as they officially opened the beautiful new Rev. David J. Duffy, O.S.A. Arts Center at the Spring Arts Festival.
With visual art filling the galleries, lobbies and corridors of the Duffy Center, the Malvern community was treated to an amazing sensory display that also included performances from the Upper and Middle School Choirs, the Liturgical Music Group, the Upper and Middle School Bands, the Drum Line and the Malvern Theatre Society.
“Hours upon hours of labor and energy were infused into the students’ performances and projects. I hope everyone enjoyed this celebration of their talents,” said Jackie White, Director of the Arts.
The day began at 1:00 p.m. with chamber music in the main lobby as guests perused the student art on display throughout the Center. The choir and band concerts were intermixed with theatre performances from Fiddler on the Roof. A community picnic followed the festival at 5:00 p.m. in Dougherty Hall, with the day
concluding with Mass in the Chapel at 6:30 p.m.
Overall, the day was an impressive exhibition of the ability and dedication of Malvern’s student artists and a fitting tribute to the beloved man for whom the building is named.
