Upper School Student Council Charged to Be Servant Leaders
October 2, 2008

“Whoever wishes to be great among you must be a servant to all.” With this reference to the Scripture of St. Mark at this week’s chapel service, Head of School the Rev. James R. Flynn, O.S.A. called upon the new officers of the Malvern Prep Upper School Student Council to be true servant leaders of their school, to follow one of the tenets of the school’s mission, “to grow and give in a family distinguished by respect, challenge, service and exceptional love.”

MP-US-Student-Council-web.jpgThe new members of the Malvern Prep Upper School Student Council Executive Board are seniors David Bemer (President), Matthew Ryan (Vice-President), Matthew Willcox (Secretary/Treasurer) and Paul Ryan (Events Chairman). These student leaders attended the Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils (P.A.S.C.) Gold Camp this July, where Matthew Ryan was named camp MVP for his motivational skills. The Gold Camp is designed for students entering grades 10 through 12 looking to discover, develop and define leadership skills.

The new Class Representatives are seniors Joseph D’Ascenzo, Steven Dunn and David Umile; juniors Wade Andersson, John Devine, Kevin Malcolm and George McHugh; sophomores Patrick Allen, Nicholas Cicione and Joseph Lubanski; and freshmen John Bradford, Kevin Frost, Joseph Nilan and Thomas Pitt IV.

The Malvern Student Council promotes school spirit, fosters leadership and encourages participation in activities. It acts as the liaison between administration and students, initiates new policies for administrative approval, arranges dances and activities, and serves as the corporate leader of the student community.
