In spite of the current economic turmoil, a group of Malvern freshmen have beaten the odds to make an almost unimaginable virtual profit in the statewide Stock Market Game. Their success caught the attention of NBC 10 anchor Tracy Davidson, who produced a segment that ran on December 1.
The freshman team of Jake Follman, Michael Buysse, Gus Carlin, Mike Manta, David Srinivasan, Connor McGlynn and William Kacergis are currently ranked FIRST in the state after nine weeks of the 10-week game. Even in this bear market, these boys have managed to make a profit of over $460,000 by using an investment strategy focusing on buying short fund mutual funds. The students are part of the School’s Stock Market Club, moderated by economics teacher John Ostick.
