College Essay Writing Workshop for Seniors – August 24 and 25
Point Person: Fran Kenny, Counseling Department Chair – 484-595-1133
The Counseling Department is sponsoring several College Essay Writing Workshops in August. The workshops will be held in the computer lab in Tolentine Hall from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on August 24 and 25.
 
Student Lunch Accounts / MyKidsSpending.com
Point Person: Tom Gray, Director of Dining Services – 484-595-1175
Parents - you can now access Student Lunch Accounts at home by using the MyKidsSpending.com website (note the two "s"). New students can be set up using the "Setup an Account" option. Visit www.MyKidsSpending.com to view balances and all activity on the student accounts, deposit money to their account, or to set up an account for new students. Using this website is optional and is not necessary for students to use their Lunch Accounts. Students and parents will still be able to deposit money to their Accounts with cash or check in the Cafeteria Office during Book Sales, Registrations or in the Cafeteria Office anytime throughout the year. If you would like to access your Account, but cannot recall your login information from last year, please use the "Send Password" button or contact the website at support@MyKidsSpending.com. If you have any further problems, please feel free to call or e-mail Tom Gray at 484-595-1175 or tgray@malvernprep.org.

Early Optional Registration – August 27 – O’Neill Center

This year, Malvern is offering an Early Optional Registration Day on Friday, August 27 in the O’Neill Center. You will be able to register, receive your class schedules/rosters, purchase your books and take your yearbook and I.D. photos. Please note that you will not be able to register for classes or participate in any fall sport unless all medical forms have been turned in.  All medical forms can be found here on the Malvern website.
  • Register for classes.
  • Receive class schedules/rosters.
  • Take yearbook photos. Formal dress is required for yearbook photos: shirt, tie, sport coat. If you take your yearbook photo this day, you do not have to wear formal dress on the first day of school.
  • Registration times are as follows:
    • 6th grade, 8:00 a.m.
    • 7th grade, 9:00 a.m.
    •  8th grade, 10:00 a.m.
    • 9th grade, 10:00 a.m.
    • 10th grade, 11:00 a.m.
    • 11th and 12th grades, noon.
    • Registration will last until 3:00 p.m.
  • Parents with students in more than one grade may choose which time to come. All students in the same family may register at the same time.
  • Please note – class schedules/rosters will not be available at the Book Sale in Stewart Hall – you must register in O’Neill to receive your class roster and all medical forms must be turned in.
Back-to-School Book Sale and Friars Resale August 27 – Stewart Hall
Point Person: Nancy Gustitis, Director of Purchasing – 484-595-1126
  • The Malvern Prep Back-to-School Book Sale will be open on Friday, August 27 in Stewart Hall as follows:
    • 8:00 a.m. - 6th grade (Campus Store)
    • 9:00 a.m. - 7th grade (Campus Store)
    • 10:00 a.m. - 8th grade (Campus Store)
    • 11:00 a.m. - 9th grade (Dining Hall)
    • Noon - 10th grade (Dining Hall)
    • 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. - 11th and 12th grades (Dining Hall)
  • Parents with students in more than one grade may choose which time to come. All students in the same family may purchase books at the same time.
  • I.D. photos may also be taken at this time if needed. Tom Gray, Director of Dining Services, will be set up in Stewart Hall for I.D. photos. All new students must have their photo taken for their I.D. card.
  • The Friars Resale Shop will be open during all Book Sale hours.
The Book Sale and Campus Store will be completely stocked with everything that your son needs for back to school including shorts, T-shirts and all new Under Armour clothing, uniform polos and sweaters, as well as stationery, Malvern Day Planners and calculators. Grades 7-12 will receive a list of stationery items that they will need from their teachers during class and the Campus Store will have in stock all necessary items including book socks, notebooks, pens and pencils, etc.

Back-to-School Book Sale and Friars Resale – August 30 – Stewart Hall

  • 6th, 7th and 8th Grades Report to the O’Neill Center at 5:00 p.m.
  • Registration and Picnic.
  • Dress is picnic casual.
  • Yearbook or I.D. photos will NOT be taken.
9th Grade Registration and Picnic – August 31 – Duffy and O’Neill Centers
Point Person: Jim Fry, Activities Director – 484-595-1166
  • 9th Grade Reports to the Duffy Center at 5:00 p.m.
  • Picnic in the O’Neill Center.
  • Dress is picnic casual.
  • Campus Store will be open for 9th GRADE ONLY from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Yearbook or I.D. photos will NOT be taken.
First Day of School – September 1
Point Person: Steve Valyo, Upper School Dean – 484-595-1155
  • All students report to Homeroom by 8:15 a.m.
  • 10th, 11th and 12th Grade Registration.
  • Middle School and 9th Grade Orientations.
  • Yearbook Photos in the O’Neill Center. Formal Dress is required for yearbook photos: shirt, tie, sport coat, slacks. If you already took your yearbook photo, you may wear the School’s casual dress uniform (polo shirt) on the first day of school.
  • Campus Store is open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.


Save the Date – PAC Groundbreaking Set for September 2
August 18, 2010
On September 2, after the School’s Opening Mass at 8:30 a.m. in the O’Neill Sports Center, Malvern will hold a ceremonial groundbreaking at the construction site with the student body.
