Malvern is collaborating with SOLO Wilderness Medicine to provide this comprehensive course that will certify students in Wilderness First Aid (WFA). Participants will learn about how to assess patients, how to handle environmental emergencies (such as lightening strikes), create a rescue plan, provide fracture and wound care, manage a spinal injury, treat heat related injuries, plan an evacuation, and more. The WFA certification allows students to gain skills and confidence while recreating safely in the backcountry, and is a certification that is necessary to work at many summer camps. Students must be at least 14 years old and must be present for the entirely of the program to receive the certification.
