Dear Malvern PrepVarsity and JVWater Polo Players and Families,
Hope your summer is going well! In just a few weeks we will begin another exciting season of water polo atMalvernPreparatory School. This summer provided many of you the opportunity to improve, however still we have a great deal of work to do. Coaches Bruce Bronsdon, Mark Strickland and I are looking forward to beginning our season on Monday, August 20that 7:30am, the first day of practices for all Malvern upper school fall sports. (Coach Kain will help out when he is available!) EVERYONE needs to report in great condition, ready to take on the challenges of this season as a TEAM. As I ask each year, “I am ready to win Malvern’s first ever Inter-Ac title in water polo, ARE YOU READY TO FINALLY CATCH THE DREAM?????”
On the first day of practice you need to make sure that all medical and physical forms are complete and turned in to Mr. Mills office or you will not be permitted to practice. We will meet with Mr. Mills first to review paperwork! Please review the Team Rules and Expectations and both you and a parent must sign and return one form to me the first practice and you should keep the other. You will also need to bring a check made out to “MalvernPreparatory School” for $150.This includes your team suit, practice suit, registration of “Friars Water Polo” team with American Water Polo so that we can play in out of season leagues, tournament fees & lunches during camp. Custom team suits and practice suits have already been ordered for each athlete with the sizes you submitted (if you did not submit a size we have limited sizes available as extras). I am also enclosing the latest schedule for you – dismissal times will be posted on the HS Sports website. Also, every player must come prepared for both in the pool and dryland activities during every practice session. This meanseach player must have a brief (Speedo type suit) or Jammer, goggles, towel, one pair of sneakers to wear in the pool, workout t-shirt, shorts and a second pair of dry sneakers for conditioning work*. Sandals, flip flops or open type shoes are not permitted for dryland activity! You do not want to be unprepared!
Please note: additional REQUIRED team apparel must be purchased online through Malvern Prep and Wayne Sporting Goods. Each player is required to purchase the navy Nike tee shirt and grey Nike team short! These are the only items to be worn for games and will be worn on for the team photo! These and other items are available to any Malvern Preparatory School water polo extended family member. There are several other optional items that may be purchased for your use and proceeds support the water polo team! The window to order items is limited!
