Malvern Prep enrolls boys beginning in 6th grade. Small by design, the 6th grade class is composed of only 36 young men. The 7th grade is composed of 48- 51 students, which includes 10-13 new students. The 8th grade class has 54-57 students with 5 to 8 new students admitted each year. An almost equal amount of “new” students, approximately 60 to 65, are admitted to the 9th grade. The total 9th grade class is 120 in 7 sections. Experience shows that most young men benefit from at least four years at Malvern to participate fully in school life and to take advantage of the many extracurricular and academic opportunities available. The vast majority of our students enter in 6th, 7th or 9th grade. Students with exceptional qualifications will be considered for 8th, 10th or 11th grade if a place is available. Applications for senior year are not accepted, ordinarily, unless the student has relocated and he is an exceptional student.
Admission to Malvern is competitive. Decisions are based on:
• Entrance exam scores;
• Previous academic achievement;
• Standardized testing;
• Teacher recommendations;
• Participation in extracurricular activities;
• Conduct and attendance record.
