National Junior Honor Society Inducts New Members  |

Malvern Preparatory School is delighted to announce the induction of 15 new members into the Friar Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. These 7th and 8th graders pledged to uphold the ideals of the society, character, scholarship, leadership and service at their induction ceremony on Monday, May 6 in the Duffy Arts Center. |

Rowing Enjoys Successful Day on the Water at City Champs  |

Malvern Rowing continued its successful season at the Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Association (PSRA) City Championships on Saturday, May 5, winning the Varsity Light Quad, finishing second in Varsity Heavy Quad (in a thriller with Roman Catholic edging out the Friar boat), and finishing third in the JV Single. |

Five Students Earn National French Awards  |

Five Malvern students scored in the top ten nationally in this year's National French Contest. In Level 2 French, freshman Jaxson Hoey placed sixth nationally; freshman Nick Leasure placed ninth; and freshmen Anthony DelVescovo and Steven Van Ommeren placed tenth. In Level 5 French, senior David Giannella placed tenth nationally. |

Malvern Alumnus Ryan Nassib Selected in 4th Round of NFL Draft  |

Being selected to play in the NFL is an extremely rare feat. To have two student-athletes from the same school chosen in the same year is ... well, in Malvern's case, it has never happened ... until this year. On April 27, the New York Giants selected former Friar and Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib '08 in the 4th round of the NFL Draft. Later in the day, Rob McCabe '09, who starred at linebacker for Georgetown, signed a free agent contract with the Miami Dolphins. |

Malvern Welcomes New Director of College Counseling  |

Although her official full-time start date is July 1, Emily Buckley Feeney, Malvern's new Director of College Counseling, is already hitting the ground running on a part-time basis in her new role. Feeney, who has strong Malvern ties, is the School's chief strategist and executive for its college counseling program, and is charged with creating a dynamic vision for the program, advising Malvern families through the college selection process and building relationships with college admission offices. |

Malvern kicked of its celebration of National Library Week on April 15 with a visit by young adult author Tim Green, who spent the day speaking with each Middle School grade about his books, how he became a writer, and his professional football career. Malvern Preparatory School is pleased to announce the hiring of Victor F. D'Ascenzo, Malvern Prep Class of 1981, as the School's new Director of Development. D'Ascenzo is currently the Executive Director of Community Counselling Services a development consulting firm in New York City. D'Ascenzo rejoins the Malvern community with a wealth of fundraising experience, having spent the majority of his career at Fairfield University, including serving for 10 years as a Major Gift Officer with the school.

Malvern Hosts Student Augustinian Values Institute  |

Malvern Preparatory School is hosting 90 high school students and their chaperones from the nine Augustinian Schools in the United States and Canada for the Fourth Annual Student Augustinian Values Institute (SAVI) April 11-14. Throughout the weekend, students will discuss and strengthen their own understanding of the core values identified by St. Augustine through a series of focused talks, student group discussions, active service, social outings and other team building exercises. |

Malvern Prep staged two emotional, reflective performances of the Living Stations of the Cross this week, helping the community prepare for a solemn Holy Week and joyous Easter Sunday. Backed by a well-chosen score by the Liturgical Music Group, actors from Malvern and Villa Maria brought the Passion of Christ to life for packed houses in the Duffy Arts Center this past Sunday and Wednesday. |

Charlie Leasure of Devon, a graduating senior at Malvern Preparatory School, has been named one of more than 3,000 candidates in the 2013 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The candidates were selected from nearly 3.4 million students expected to graduate from U.S. high schools in the year 2013. |

Malvern Prep Athletic Director Kurt Ruch has announced the hiring of Anthony DeCecco as Head Tennis Coach with Malvern alumnus and former touring USTA professional, David DiLucia ’88 as assistant. DiLucia who graduated from Malvern in 1988 is a former touring USTA professional who had a stellar career as a student at Malvern Prep and continued his success at the University of Notre Dame. |

Seniors - Michael Paul (MP) Salinas* & Paul Stockett
MP Salinas and Paul Stockett are also two of the six Malvern Prep swimmers and divers named as Academic All-Americans. The others are Stephen Ball, Matthew Cornell, Charles Leasure, and Ryan Robinson.
