Imagine yourself, as a doctor, not having the proper supplies to complete your task at hand. Imagine having patients who count on you to perform a surgery or diagnose a disease in hopes of treating their problem, and you can’t because you lack basic supplies. These situations are real and are happening all across the world. Until now, they practically have gone unnoticed. That is, until Crozer-Keystone’s administrative director of Oncology, Marie DeStefano, her son, Kenny DeStefano, and a group of high school seniors from Malvern Preparatory School decided to start paying attention. |

Malvern will offer a preview of its Summer Arts program at a special Open House on Saturday, March 24, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the school’s Duffy Arts Center. |

Town Hall Meeting looks to the future of Malvern Prep  |

More than 100 members of the Malvern community – parents, Board members, faculty and staff – joined together for a forward-looking town hall meeting on Tuesday, March 6. The annual meeting served to both review the current financial state of the school as well as a look ahead to the future, via a presentation of the five-year Strategic Vision.

The Malvern Theatre Society turns once again to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice for inspiration for their spring musical. This year, it is Jesus Christ Superstar, the rock opera that first appeared on Broadway in 1971, based very loosely on the Gospels’ account of the last week of Jesus’ life. The show will debut on Friday and Saturday, March 2 and 3, with additional shows on March 9 and 10. |

Christian M. Talbot Appointed 13th Head of School  |

The Board of Trustees of Malvern Preparatory School announced today the appointment of Christian M. Talbot as Malvern’s 13th Head of School, effective July 1, 2012. Currently English Department Chair at Regis High School, a Catholic college preparatory school for boys in New York City, Talbot’s appointment is the culmination of an extensive national search and a unanimous recommendation from the Head of School Search Committee. |

Malvern Prep launches its first student-run blog, The Friar’s Lantern  |

In the 1940s, The Friar’s Lantern was the student newspaper of Malvern Preparatory School, covering many of the same topics the current Black Friar Chronicle does today, including campus events and sports. In January, several decades since its last printed edition, The Friar’s Lantern returned to Malvern as the school’s first-ever online student publication. |

The skies over Malvern were a clear blue on Monday morning, Sept. 19, evoking memories of a decade ago, when the blue skies over New York City turned black with smoke following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. For Malvern Prep students, the morning of Sept. 19, 2011 was one of remembrance, as these young men who were boys between the ages of 4 and 8 on 9/11 took part in an annual memorial service organized by Rev. Dr. Joseph Oechsle, math teacher and member of the Norriton Volunteer Fire Company. |

Malvern Announces Plans for Leadership Transition  |

James H. Stewart will step down as President of Malvern Preparatory School at the end of the 2011-2012 school year. The Board of Trustees will appoint the Rev. James R. Flynn, O.S.A. as the next President, and has announced the process it intends to follow in the months ahead to ensure a smooth leadership transition and the selection of Malvern’s next Head of School. |

Malvern Prep honors Class of 2011 at final chapel service  |

Malvern Prep’s 116 members of the senior class were honored Monday morning during their final chapel service at the school. The ceremony was an opportunity for the underclassmen, faculty and senior parents to spend time with and acknowledge the Class of 2011, as the seniors departed later in the day for two weeks of Christian service prior to their graduation on June 2. |
