Malvern Prep Athletic Hall of Fame Criteria
Alumni Athlete: Athlete must have attended Malvern for at least two years; and 1. 15 years must have lapsed since his time at Malvern Prep; and
2. The student athlete must have been in good standing during his time at Malvern Prep; and
3. He must fall into one of the following criteria: o Must have received National and/or State recognition for at least one sport while at Malvern Prep; o Have been selected for two All-Inter-AcTeams (first team) in two different sports; o Have been selected for All Inter-Ac (first team) in one sport as well as recognition outside the league (ex: All-City; All-County) and have lettered in a second sport; o Or, in the opinion of the selecting body, which will take into consideration the guidelines, have achieved such athletic success or provided support in a single sport or multiple sports to merit recognition by selection.
Administrator, Teacher and/or Coach
1. Person must have coached/taught a minimum of five years and have had an extraordinary impact on their program and the school
2. Person must support Malvern Prep's Mission and be loyal to the School
3. Person must exemplify/teach good sportsmanship and conduct, along with understanding the importance of building individual character
4. Must be nominated in writing by a former player, teacher, and/or coach. Letter must explain why the person is being nominated and how this person impacted Malvern and its athletic programs in a positive way
Each year Malvern Prep and the Malvern Prep Alumni Association go through a structured process of selecting individuals for its annual awards. Each award is discussed and voted upon by committees made up of alumni representatives and school administrators. After the award recipients are selected, they are honored in a dinner on the Friday of Alumni Homecoming Weekend.
Athletic Hall of Fame Award: On the eve of Homecoming each year, Malvern recognizes alumni and teachers/administrators/coaches who achieved athletic success while at Malvern. To qualify for this special award, an individual must meet the criteria applicable to their role while at Malvern Prep.
The 2011 Athletic Hall of Fame inductees are Bob DelVescovo '93, Ryan Toland '94, Ryan Polley '95 and Toby Booker '96.
Alumni Loyalty Award: This award is given by the Head of School annually to an alumnus who has dedicated his time and talent to Malvern through its academic, athletic and extracurricular programs or through the fundraising and alumni efforts organized by the Development Office and Alumni Association.
The 2011 Alumni Loyalty Award recipients are Kevin B. O'Keefe '90 and Ryan Irish '93
St. Augustine Alumni Award: The St. Augustine Alumni Award will be bestowed upon an alumnus who best symbolizes "the spirit and mission of Malvern Prep." This award was created for individuals who have achieved a level of distinction within their chosen fields or professions and who have made a contribution to their church, chosen profession, and/or community. In order to be eligible for this award, the alum must meet specific criteria.
The 2011 St. Augustine Alumni Award recipient is Louis B. Colameco, '77
St. Augustine Award Eligibility and Nomination Process
Eligibility:
1. The candidate must be a member of the alumni body for a minimum of 20 years;
2. He must have achieved a significant level of distinction within his chosen field and/or made a significant positive difference in his community or church;
3. He must symbolize the “spirit” of Malvern Prep and must hold a personal mission reflective of Malvern’s mission in his every day life;
4. And, the candidate cannot be a current member of the Alumni Association Executive Board or School Board of Trustees.
Nomination Process:
1. Submit a letter of nomination, which details the nominee’s achievements and accomplishments, along with an explanation as to the reasons why this candidate qualifies for the award and lives out the mission of Malvern Prep.
2. Supporting documentation for the nomination must also be submitted with the summary – this includes, press clippings, testimonials, a resume, and any other pertinent information related to the nomination.
