Malvern Alumni FAQ
How do I obtain a Transcript?
Transcripts can be obtained by phoning the Guidance Office at 484-595-1136.

As a legacy, is my son offered admission automatically?
Malvern has a long tradition of legacies, sons of alumni, who have enrolled and graduated. Over the past 10 years the School has viewed this as a loyalty issue and the policy has evolved due to the large number of brothers and sons of alumni applying for 6th and 9th grades. There is no special consideration in other grades.

Legacies must meet the standards for admission required of all candidates. Priority review gives legacies who apply early the opportunity for the Admissions committee to determine if Malvern is a good match. Entrance requirements have risen dramatically over the past 5 years and Malvern now has only 2 levels--Honors and Academic. The School has discussed putting a cap on the number of siblings/legacies in a class.

Legacies applying for financial aid must meet the requirements established for all aid candidates: Entrance test scores in the top 25% nationally, outstanding teacher recommnedations, and grades of A's and B's.

For more information on how to apply for admission at Malvern Prep, please call the Admissions Office at 484-595-1173 or e-mail Bill Gibson, '69, at wgibson@malvernprep.org.

What is the difference between The Malvern Fund and a capital campaign?
The dollars raised for The Malvern Fund are used to help operate the School on an annual basis. Tuition covers about 85% of the School's operating budget, so we raise funds through The Malvern Fund to help subsidize the costs involved with running the School.

Capital Campaign dollars are used for a specific project and are given to Malvern over and above the usual dollars given to The Malvern Fund. Money raised for the particular capital project might support a building, special facilities, endowment, a scholarship, or another tangible item.

Isn't B.A.S.H. just an event for current parents?
Students from 1975 and beyond may remember their parents attending Malvern's annual auction called B.A.S.H. (Building a Scholastic Heritage). this event is a tremendous fundraiser for the School that is also a lot of fun. Even though man of the current parents of the School are involved, all members of the Malvern community, including alumni, are able to attend.

Over the past few years, the number of alumni attending has increased greatly. It has become an event to which many classmates look forward. If you are interested in receiving an invitation for B.A.S.H., please contact the B.A.S.H. office at 484-595-1180 or bash@malvernprep.org.
