Malvern Prep rowers are enjoying plenty of success this summer across the pond in England.
The Friars placed a second boat in the Henley Royal Regatta's Fawley Challenge Cup competition by advancing through qualifying races June 24 on the River Thames in Henley-on-Thames, England.

With 16 quads already determined for the Fawley's 24-boat field, 61 crews vied for the remaining eight slots. The Malvern Prep "B" quad - Mike Lewers, Austin Moore, Austin Velte, and Jeremy Gonzalez - advanced to the main bracket, joining the school's "A" crew of Dan Schwarz, Austin Bury, Pat Donohue and Alec Somers.
Malvern Prep's A Quad boat is in fine form for the Henley. They won the High School Event at the Reading Town Regatta in England on Saturday, beating several Australian, English, and American Quads on the Henley-style, 850-meter course.
Malvern A and Malvern B finished first and second, respectively, in the intermediate quad final, with an Australian crew third. Malvern B made the final after beating St. Joseph's Prep by 6 feet in the semifinal.
The Henley Royal Regatta, which features head-to-head races over five consecutive days, is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 29. Information on the regatta can be found at
