Malvern C.A.R.E.S. Walkraises nearly $20,000
 On Sunday morning, the boys of Malvern Preparatory School and their families met at the school for Mass and then Malvern Prep’s 12th annual Malvern C.A.R.E.S. (Cancer and AIDS Reach Everyone Somehow). Donations exceeded $19,000 by Monday morning, with a goal of $25,000 still within reach as late donations continued to come in, according to event organzier Larry Legner. Oct. 8: New start time for Malvern vs. Bonner
Malvern Prep vs. Monsignor Bonner, originally scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, has been changed to a 1:00 p.m. start time. The game will still be held at Upper Darby High School.
Middle School: Militia Lacrosse Club Tryouts Oct. 9 Point Person: David Metzbower, Varsity Lacrosse Coach
 Malvern would like to invite you to explore the newest middle school aged lacrosse club in the area. Tryouts for the upcoming 2012 Militia Lacrosse Club will be held Sunday, October 9 and Sunday, October 16 at Malvern Prep. You have to tryout to be considered for a summer 2012 Militia team. Try-outs dates and times by high school graduation year will be: October 9 and 16
1:00 - 2:30 pm for the Class of 2019 & 2020 2:30 - 4:00 pm for the Class of 2016, 2017 & 2018 All boys interested in trying out for the 2012 Militia Club teams must complete the Tryout registration form and bring the $20 fee to the tryouts. Checks should be made payable to Malvern Prep.

 Kids off from school on Monday, October 10? Bring them out to the 5th annual Columbus Day basketball clinic at Malvern Prep. In an effort to teach the game of basketball at the grass-roots level, we are offering a full day basketball clinic for boys and girls in grades 2-8 who have an interest in improving their individual basketball skills. The program, which takes place in the O’Neill Center from 9 a.m. to 2 pm, will: teach the game of basketball the right way; have players learn the critical fundamentals both on an individual and team basis; challenge players with detailed work-outs that are taught at the NCAA Division I level; and realize a player’s individual potential. Freshman Co-ed Christian Service Opportunity on Oct. 11 Point Person: Jim Fry, Director of Student Activities - 484-595-1166
 Freshmen of Malvern Prep and Villa Maria Academy will team up for a Sandwich Patrol on Tuesday, oct. 11, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. in the Villa Maria cafeteria. The goal is to make 400 brown-bagged lunches for the homeless, to be distributed via St. Francis in Philadelphia. Each homeroom will be asked to bring in a certain food item that will be used for the lunches. There is room for 40 freshman to take part in this opportunity. Those who are making the lunches will receive 2 hours towards Christian Service. A bus will transport the students to and from Malvern. Parents may pick up their sons at Malvern around 4:45 at the O’Neill Center. Here's what we need:

Morning at Malvern provides a two-hour inside look at Malvern during the course of a regular school day for parents and their sons. The Admissions Office urges sons of alumni and brothers of current students to come to this early-in-the-year program. In addition to detailed information concerning priority consideration for qualified sons of alumni and brothers, Malvern Preview Morning includes classroom visits, tours of campus, and a question and answer session with faculty and students. All high school students are invited to take a 9-day custom educational tour sponsored by Malvern Prep and Discovera Tours to London, Loire Valley & Paris. There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday October 12, at 6:30 pm in the library. The owner of Discovera Tours will be at the meeting to answer any questions you may have. The trip will run from April 4—12, 2012 (see itinerary). The final day to sign-up for the trip will be Wednesday, October 19. PSAT at Malvern – October 12 Point Person: Fran Kenny, College Counselor – 484-595-1133 On Wednesday, October 12, Malvern will administer the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). All sophomores and juniors are already registered for this test; there is NO COST to parents. This is not an optional test; all Sophomores and Juniors are expected to attend this sitting.

Join in the Homecoming Day fun by reserving a table to showcase your club, event or activity in the Homecoming Marketplace. The Marketplace is a great way to inform the Malvern community about your group’s mission, an initiative or an upcoming event. Tables, signage and linens are provided. Groups must staff their tables and provide any additional supplies they need. Malvern Prep Head Baseball Coach Freddy Hilliard is proud to announce the date for this year’s fall baseball clinic/prospect camp.
