An audience of more than 300 guests was on hand on Saturday, Oct. 15, as the Diversity Club presented its fall Open Mic Night. With 19 acts by students from Malvern, Villa Maria and Notre Dame, preceded by an art exhibit in the Duffy Center galleries, this was "our best one yet," said Nicole Wilkinson, Director of Diversity.
Mrs. Wilkinson credited the success of the show to the many student organizers, including stage manager Jon Heisler ‘12, emcees Kyle Julicher '13 and Anthony Abron ‘14, Diversity Club members Mike Sassano ‘12, Luke Antonello ’12 and Akul Penugonda ‘12, and all of the performers. "This event started four years ago with about 30 people in attendance," she said. "When I looked out into the audience on Saturday night and saw parents, alumni, girls from our sister schools, friends and Malvern students and faculty, I was so happy that we have been able to build an event that brings so many aspects of our extended community together."

Malvern's National Art Honor Society organized the Leadership-themed exhibit, with over 60 pieces submitted by students from Malvern, Villa Maria, and Notre Dame. Leadership is the School's theme for 2011-2012. The exhibit was organized by Austin Velte ‘12, Jon Heisler ‘12, Julian Venonsky ‘12, and Matt Miller ‘13, with graphic design by JB Betz ‘12. "There are some very thought-provoking student works in this show," said fine arts teacher Kate Plows. "Thanks so much to the student artists and supporting art teachers for your participation."
