Malvern's Joe Nilan among top city football honorees for 2011
The Philadelphia Daily News has honored Malvern Prep senior Joe Nilan as 2011 Inter-Ac League Player of the Year in connection with naming the annual Daily News All-City Team.

The 6-foot, 220-pound linebacker led the Friars with 126 tackles, and his play was pivotal in making sure league opponents' leading rushers were held to 173 yards (34.6 average). In his career, Joe topped 300 tackles and was a passionate blocker at fullback.

Joe was one of four regional players honored by the newspaper, alongside Archbishop Wood running back Desmon Peoples, St. Joseph's Prep quarterback Skyler Mornhinweg, and multipurpose back Sharif Smith of Horace Furness.
