Alumni/Student Interview Project

Dear Alumni,

Michael Treston, Director of Alumni Programs, has kindly agreed to send you this request for volunteers on my behalf. I have been teaching theology here at Malvern for over ten years. Currently, I teach four sections of Church History to sophomores. I would like to assign them an interview based project this year, in connection with our school’s yearly theme of "Leadership.” Specifically I would like to find Malvern alumni who would be willing to meet once on campus with a group of two or perhaps three sophomores between February 23rd and March 23rd. During the interview, as alumni, you would be invited to talk about leadership as it has impacted your life in some way since high school. As some of you may recall, I organized a similar project in 2009 on the theme of service and in 2010 on the theme of respect.

The sophomores would contact you on their own, according to your preference (phone or email) and would arrange a time and day for the interview. They would conduct the interview here on Malvern’s campus. During the interview, they would present you with a series of questions about an experience or a life lesson regarding leadership. This experience could have occurred in college, in your professional life, or in your personal commitments to a community organization. They would also specifically ask you how leadership has impacted your faith, your understanding of religion and your worldview.

After the interview, the sophomores will give a presentation about you and your experience to the other members of their class. They can choose to use any type of media support to present their information, but they will inform you about this. Finally, after you meet with them, I would ask that you complete a questionnaire via email for me to let me know how the students "performed” during the interview.

Please confirm your participation with Mike Treston at alumni@malvernprep.org. Include in this confirmation, your full name, class year, your preferred method of contact from the students to arrange the interview, and finally, a one or two lines on your background. In addition, please feel free to include the date(s) that might be convenient for you to come to campus for a meeting, if you already know. Malvern would be more than happy to host you for breakfast or lunch either before or after the interview, if that would make your campus visit more convenient. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about this project, and I am very grateful for any help you can volunteer.

Sincerely,
Jessica Goldman Kenworthey
