Malvern Prep will be on Spring Break during National Library Week (April 8-14), so the school's
library will perform a truncated (look it up in the library if you don't know the word) version of the celebration from Monday through Wednesday, April 2-4.
Head Librarian Liz Driscoll has planned three days of fun events, including the popular Edible Books Contest and a display of photos featuring members of the Malvern community with their favorite books. Monday's Edible Books Contest will include awards given in the following areas: Most Artistic; Best Play on Words; and Best in Show. There will also be Book Talks and Pretzels, and Middle School English classes will hear about what’s new in young adult literature.
Tuesday is Candy in the Café and a discussion group on The Hunger Games during periods 1, 3, 7 and 8 with Ms. Walsh’s classes. Wednesday is the Faculty and Staff Breakfast (7:30 am - 8:30 a.m.), followed by Book Talks and Pretzels, Middle School English classes will again hear about what’s new in young adult literature, and there will be two drawings for Barnes & Noble gift cards.
According to the American Library Association, today’s libraries help level the playing field by making both print and digital information affordable, available and accessible to all people. Libraries provide cultural heritage and genealogical collections, materials in print and electronic formats, job seeking resources, English as second language and citizenship classes and many other creative and resourceful programs.
