Malvern Prep is pleased to announce ten national award winners for the 2012 National Spanish Examinations, which measure the proficiency and achievement of students studying Spanish as a second language. One of the award winners took doub'e honors, receiving a national ranking in French as well.
Since 1957, the National Spanish Examinations (NSE) has organized the administration of standardized assessments to measure the proficiency and achievement of students studying Spanish as a second language. Participants are rated according to the national percentiles, with Premio de Oro (95th or above), Premio de Plata (85th to 94th), Premio de Bronce (75th to 84th), and Mención Honorífica (50th to 74th).

“Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams, “because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with 143,641 students participating in 2012.”
Nick Anderson also finished fifth in the Philadelphia region and eighth nationallyin the French exam. Nick is an exceptional case in that he did not take French II after his first year, but rather went immediately to a French III Honors course on the recommendation of his French I teacher.
Congratulations to all the participants for their outstanding results!
