Students, faculty and staff of Malvern Preparatory School gathered on Friday, May 18, for a special surprise celebration in honor of longtime leader Jim Stewart, who is stepping down after 42 years at Malvern Prep, including the past 37 years of leadership as Assistant Head, Head of School and President.
Emcee Marty Farrell, Vice President of Malvern Prep, led the celebration in the Duffy Center. The event had a special theme centered on Mr. Stewart's love of Bruce Springsteen, with the Men's Chorus performing "Growing Up and "Into the Fire" and the 'Duffy All-Star Band' performing "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out" and "Glory Days."
Mr. Farrell capped the celebration with a rendition of the Irish classic "The Wild Rover," with lyrics rewritten in honor of Mr. Stewart. Video highlights from the event appear below.
