"Embrace the Arts" is supported by The Malvern Prep Capital Campaign,
T he Vision for Malvern.

Dear Malvern Family,

After 38 years at Malvern Prep, I can tell you without question that the School has become a place of great distinction in the greater Philadelphia Area. We are grounded in the knowledge that we are fiscally sound, we provide a rigorous academic education, and we challenge our students to explore new experiences through our Christian Service and extracurricular activities. Our beloved Fr. Duffy summed up Malvern best when he stated, “Intellectually, religiously, morally and artistically, we strive to cultivate the whole man.”

In the mid-1990’s, Malvern decided it was time to make an investment in the Arts. This initial investment has changed the face of the School today. Currently, more than 75% of the student body is involved in the Arts vs. 10% in 1995. This love of music, art, theatre, etc. has been an amazing renaissance for our community and has allowed us the opportunity to truly provide a well-rounded education. The Arts are celebrated at the School today and will be a focal point moving forward. It was a new day for Malvern when 400 students performed at the Kimmel Center and when one of our student graduation speakers, not only gave his speech, but also sang a Billy Joel song.

I am amazed at the talents of our students, and I am truly grateful for all those who have supported the Arts program through their time, talent and treasure. It is because of your help and vision that we are able to observe our 2007-2008 school theme of “Embrace the Arts.”

I hope you will join us for the many festivities we have planned to celebrate the Arts and honor our dearest Rev. David J. Duffy, O.S.A. as we open the Duffy Arts Center. Also, I invite you to visit our Embrace the Arts web site periodically for previews of student performances and updates on the special events scheduled throughout the year.

Again, thank you! I am truly blessed to be part of such a caring, flourishing, and committed community.

May God continue to bless you and your family!

James H. Stewart
