Malvern Rowing Boat Dedication to Frank Ryan – Sunday, June 2
Point Person: Craig Hoffman The Malvern community is invited to a special boat dedication on Sunday, June 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rowing team warehouse at 601 Washington St. in Conshohocken. A new double scull will be christened the "Frank Ryan" in honor of Frank's dedication to Malvern Rowing. Please see the attached invitation for more information.

Class of 2013 Gifts of Gratitude – Deadline Extended to Tuesday, May 28

Seniors - show those who have touched your life at Malvern that they have made an impact on your Malvern experience. Each time you make a gift of $20.13 to the Senior Gift Campaign, you will have the opportunity to thank a teacher, family member, coach, administrator, scholarship provider or friend. Those you acknowledge will receive a special card that informs them that a gift was made to Malvern Prep in their honor, and your gifts will be listed in the Commencement booklet and in our annual report of giving. Senior Class Trip to Six Flags – Wednesday, May 29Point Person: Jim FryThe Senior Class Trip to Six Flags Great Adventure is a way to celebrate as a class their many accomplishments over the last few years. This is an optional trip for any member of the Malvern Prep senior class, but advanced payment and signed permission form are required to allow your son to go to Six Flags. Year-End Transportation – May 28 - June 4Point Person: Joy PancoastMalvern Prep dismisses early beginning May 28 through June 4. All of our busing districts will continue to bring students to school but vary in providing early dismissal departure transportation. Please check the attached list for your son’s school district. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Joy Pancoast. You may also wish to talk to your bus driver, especially if you decide not to use the buses during early dismissals. School Lunch Accounts – Autofunding to be Paused for Summer Point Person: Tom GrayAll seniors who are registered with MyKidsSpending.com and have opted to have their accounts automatically credited, or autofunded, will have this feature removed on May 28. All remaining students who have their accounts automatically credited will have this feature paused for the summer on June 3. This feature will be turned back on August 26, a week ahead of classes. Class of 2014 - Yearbook Update – Pose Selections Due Friday, May 31

The site will allow only one selection, even though two yearbook pose selections are required: Tuxedo and Cap and Gown (cap on head, tan background). Instead of selecting online, please forward your yearbook pose selections to rgudknecht@lifetouch.com or call the Customer Service Group at 1-800-724-6440. Please complete your selections by Friday, May 31. Middle School Yearbook Orders Now Being Taken

Orders for the 2012-2013 Middle School yearbook are now being taken. This yearbook, which is exclusively for and about the Middle School, is a 32-page living history of the 2012-2013 Middle School year at Malvern Prep. Through the theme of Connections, the yearbook captures all of the memories, friendships, events, sports and activities that defined the Malvern Prep Middle School experience this year. Each book costs $35. Limited quantities are available. Orders will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. Order forms are available in Room 24 of Good Counsel Hall. Middle School Summer Reading Book Sale – Through Friday, May 31

The Middle School Summer Reading Book Sale runs through May 31. The books are available for purchase in the Library. The 2013 Summer Reading List and Order Form is available here. Instead of traveling from bookstore to bookstore searching for your son’s summer reading, order his books from Malvern Prep well before summer vacation begins - a time-saving and hassle-free way to get the books your son needs! Heart Screening – Saturday, June 1Point Person: Kit McGettiganA free heart screening for students 5 - 19 years of age will take place on Saturday, June 1 at Downingtown West High School, 445 Manor Avenue, Downingtown, Pa. The screening is administered by the Cardiology Team from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the findings will be shared with you and also become part of a research project to support the hypothesis that screening the hearts of children is affordable, practical and saves lives. In order for your child to participate in this screening, a parent or legal guardian must be present. Find further information and register here. Registration is required and will close May 30, 2013, at midnight.
Class of 2016 Summer Theology Reading – Purchase Book by Wednesday, June 5

All current 9th grade students are required by the Theology Department to read the book Son of Tears during the summer between 9th and 10th grades. This book is not readily available in stores or online, but may be purchased in the Campus Store for $6.00 through June 5. Summer Strength and Conditioning – June 10 - August 15Point Person: Erik MillerThe Strength & Conditioning Center will be open from June 10 to August 15. Erik Miller will be running free strength training sessions for 9th – 12th grade students and alumni. Workouts will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday with sessions at 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. There is no need to sign up, just show up ready to go. My Turn to Drive School – June 17-28

Malvern has partnered with My Turn to Drive School to provide Driver Education classroom instruction for students during the summer semester. The theory course will consist of approximately 10 classroom sessions of instruction in defensive driving practices and techniques covering various types of driving environments. Please see the attached letter and enrollment form for more information. Malvern Rowing Summer Sculling CampPoint Person: Craig Hoffman Join members of Malvern Rowing and learn to row and/or improve your technique at Coach Hoffman's Summer Sculling Camp in Conshohocken. The camp will be held June 24 to June 28 and for the weeks beginning August 5, 12, 19 and 26. Open to grades 7 and above. Sign up for one or all of the sessions. Details and registration can be found online through the 601 Washington Street Sculling Camp.
Malvern Prep Team and Youth Lacrosse Camps

The Malvern Prep Lacrosse coaching staff will be conducting two team camps this summer: June 24-27 (Monday-Thursday) and July 8-10 (Monday-Wednesday); 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. for both weeks. The camp is open to all returning and incoming Upper School lacrosse players. While not mandatory, participation is highly encouraged. Please contact Coach MacFarlane for details and to sign up. You must bring signed medication, emergency and waiver forms to participate. In addition, Malvern offers a Youth Lacrosse Camp for boys ages 7-14, July 15-18.
Malvern Baseball Camp – July 29 - August 1

The Valor Bowl is an all-star game showcasing the best senior football players from Chester County. Over the last 12 years, the Valor Bowl has raised more than $400,000 for Special Olympics.
