Starting the day off for the Friars in the Boy’s Novice Single were George Bannon '24 and Colin Kennedy '22, each racing a single.  George Bannon finished 2nd behind Strath Haven’s entry, while Colin Kennedy finished 3rd.  Next up was the Boy’s Freshman/Novice Double of Seamus Brogan '24 and Cameron Joyce '24.  Despite a strong start, the duo weren’t quite able to sustain their early lead and finished 3rd behind Christian Brothers Academy in 1st and Bergan Catholic in 2nd.  Rounding out the novice racing for the day were the Boy’s Novice Quads.  Malvern’s “A” entry, comprised of Aidan Fowler '23, Cormac Rooney '24, Brendan Kyle '23, and Hunter Jones '23, won their race, finishing some 11 seconds ahead of Springside Chestnut Hill Academy’s entry.  Malvern’s “B” entry, comprised of Gabe Galiffa '23, Jack Kelly '23, Andrew Hagman '24, and Grey Graham '24, also won their race, besting Germantown Academy’s entry by over 16 seconds.

In the varsity events, the Boy’s Lightweight Double of Vijay Ramakrishnan '22 & Will Hicks '23 finished 2nd behind Conestoga’s lightweight double.  In the Boy’s Varsity Double, Matt Miller '22 & Dan Ward '21 not only won their race by over 30 seconds ahead of Bonner Prendergast’s entry, they also posted the fastest time of the three flights of Varsity Doubles by 5 seconds, putting area teams on notice.  Racing in the second of two flights of the Boy’s Varsity Quad, Malvern’s entry of Cormac Delaney '21, Quinn Hall '21, Collin Munyan '21, and Matt Davis '21 sent a clear message to the league by winning their race by 35 seconds ahead of Shipley.  This crew posted the 2nd-fastest time of the event, second only to Conestoga, the winner of the first flight, who posted a time that was only three seconds faster than Malvern’s.

With the regular season in the rearview, the team looks towards this weekend’s Philadelphia City Championship regatta as the start of their championship season.
