  • Athletic Coaches - Spring 2019

    Job Summary: Malvern Prep's Athletics Department prides itself on the coaches who play a critical role in not only mentoring but also helping to shape our boys into excellent young men. In general, our coaches are responsible for assisting in all phases of the athletic program, mainly planning and participating in practice to develop student-athletes, and any other duties assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director. Lastly, and perhaps most important, it is essential that our Coaches believe in the idea that we put team goals before our own, where we are "one team all in."

    We are seeking the following coaching positions:
    • JV Head Soccer Coach
    • Varsity and JV Soccer Assistant Coaches

    Qualifications:
    • Previous coaching or playing experience is preferred
    • Demonstrated ability to mentor student athletes
    • Must be self-motivated, positive, and energetic

    • Ability to teach, motivate, and counsel student-athletes effectively

  • Costume Designer

    Position: Costume Designer
    Reports to: Director of High School or Middle School productions
    Department: Upper School and Middle School
    Status: Part-Time after school and weekends

    Job Summary
    Applies creative thinking and depth of knowledge to design, execute, and foster a student centered theatre program that is in support of Malvern Prep’s ambitious aspirations. Supports the school’s mission by providing students with the opportunity to gain an understanding of the necessary skills needed to be a stage wise actor, or theatre technician. Supports both the creative team and student actors and technicians. Works collaboratively with a dedicated team in a professional manner in creating the costume plot for the Upper School drama, Musical, and Middle School musical. Designs, executes, and develops the costumes for each high school and middle school team. Supports the Director of the HS or MS show in the many logistics of the production to ensure a smooth creative process and that all goals are met in a timely fashion.

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in costume design, fashion, theater, education, or related field
    • Evidence of a commitment to a team-based environment
    • Current (dated within a year) clearances

    Essential Duties
    • Work collaboratively with the Directors of MTS
    • Design the costume plot for two high school shows and one middle school production
    • Run wardrobe throughout the dress rehearsals and productions
    • Supervise a small team of students in the design process and costume execution
    • Coordinate parent volunteers, as needed.
    • Communicate with the parents in coordinating any items that the student may have to bring in as part of their costume
    • Properly clean costumes after each production
    • Works with the students to restock all cleaned costumes at the end of each production
    • Aids in proper supervision which may include before, during, and after rehearsals and performances
    • Model and develop a healthy and respectful environment between team members and students
    • Support students in a way that builds confidence
    • Regularly communicates (ie. team meetings, informal check ins, etc.with the team to ensure all goals are being met

    Competencies Required
    • Ability to design, sew, and alter costumes for each of the School’s three shows
    • Excellent interpersonal and intrapersonal communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
    • Good time management skills
    • Proficiency in technology (ie. Microsoft, google, social media, etc.)

    Reports to: Director of Development and Partnerships
    Department: Advancement/Development

    Job Summary:
    Applies professional knowledge to develop, manage, and implement programs designed to cultivate, solicit, and steward the maximum annual gift support in support of Malvern Prep's ambitious aspirations. Collaborates closely with colleagues from Marketing and Admissions to deliver an integrated and innovative approach to school advancement. Embraces Malvern's mission and core values in all facets of the development process, as well as demonstrate a clear commitment toward our school's diversity initiative. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, it is essential that the Director of Annual and Leadership Giving believes in the idea that we put team goals before our own, where we are "one team all in."
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree
    • 5+ years of prior development experience
    • Current (dated within a year) clearances
    Essential Duties:
    • Implements innovative strategies to improve annual giving among parents, past parents, alumni, and other supporters.
    • Plans all types of annual campaigns by completing feasibility studies and ensuring that the office's database and research capabilities are first-rate; ensures that gifts and contributions are maximized, supporting the long-term financial and capital needs of Malvern Prep.
    • Increases contributions and gifts by directly and personally engaging in active stewardship, cultivations, and direct solicitation of annual fund donors.
    • Forges strong relationships with alumni, parents, and other potential supporters to influence and maximize contributions.
    • Collaborates with Marketing and Communications to create development marketing materials, mailings, and publications.
    • Works closely with the Admissions Office with regard to campaigns, fundraising, and to seek the support of current/former parents and alumni in the development process.
    • Interacts with and works directly with a faculty/staff committee to increase participation for annual giving.
    • Collaborates closely with other development team members to identify and reduce duplication and inefficiencies.
    • Assesses the quality and efficiency of the development process by keeping relevant reports and statistics on all aspects of the function.
    • Continually evaluates and, where necessary, redesigns all aspects of the development process with the goal of maximizing gift contributions.
    • Actively participates in committees that serve the goal of increasing contributions to annual giving; manages committee volunteers in fulfilling their roles.
    • Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards, acting as a role model.
    • Keeps up-to-date with innovative developments and trends in the development field through professional development.
    • Makes the most of all opportunities to continue developing as a professional; acts to keep self professionally competent.
    • Proactively acts as a community liaison and supports public relations functions and fundraising activities.
    • Actively participates in various meetings, such as department, administration, school meetings, etc.
    • Builds and maintains a professional rapport with a broad audience - alumni, donors, parents, and all other staff.
    • Direct, monitor, and steward our EITC/OSTC program working closely with Admissions and the Business Office.
    • Direct, manage and complete our annual report working closely with DOD, Marketing, and Database Manager.

    Reports to: Assistant Head of School for Student Leadership

    Job Summary:
    Applies operational leadership, creative thinking, and depth of knowledge to design and execute a comprehensive Athletic program that is in support of Malvern Prep’s ambitious aspirations. Advances the Athletic brand and identity internally and externally. Leads the planning, development, promotion, and evaluation of school-wide Athletic programs, activities, and services designed to advance student success and the school’s mission. Supervises staff, coaches, and volunteers to efficiently and effectively innovate, create and deliver Athletic programs. Works collaboratively with a wide variety of administrative and academic
    departments across the school to deliver programs which complement the students’ academic and spiritual experience. Embraces Malvern’s mission and core values in all facets of the admissions process and coaches, guides and mentors others to do the same.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in Education or other appropriate subject preferred
    • 5+ years prior experience as a coach, teacher, department leader or other educational staff
    • Evidence of a commitment to a team-based environment

    Essential Duties:
    A. Athletic Leadership
    • Develops, organizes, supervises and evaluates the entire program of intramural and interscholastic athletics for the entire school.
    • Leads coaching staff and ensures they are performing their duties at the very highest level of professionalism.
    • Directs, oversees, and organizes the Summer Sports Programs.
    • Oversees and manages the coaches salary benchmark model.
    • Manages the Athletic budget.
    • Develops and maintains a coaches’ manual each year and sets up regular meetings with the coaches to review the information, coaching standards and gather ideas.
    • Properly trains all coaches so that they are aligned with both the organizational and philosophical aspects of the athletic program.
    • Verifies that all athletes are medically and academically cleared, have insurance, and have been released by parents.
    • Responds to all parent concerns.
    • Collaborates with the Director of College Counseling to facilitate college athletic recruitment.
    • Collaborates with the Director of Admissions to facilitate student-athlete recruitment to Malvern Prep.
    • Collaborates with the Director of Maintenance to ensure proper maintenance and security of all athletic equipment and athletic facilities, fields, and courts.
    • Partners with Marketing & Communications to publicize and promote regular information on the various programs, including the internal and external recognition of athletic achievements.
    • Oversees the schedules of all athletic programs, arranges for transportation and hires all game officials.
    • Professionally represents Malvern at various state, regional and national athletic associations.
    • Maintains records of the team and individual athletic accomplishments and submit copies of them to the Development Office for historical purposes.
    • Oversees the distribution, collection, cleaning, repair, and storage of all athletic uniforms and equipment.
    • Assesses the quality and efficiency of Athletic programs and processes by keeping relevant reports and statistics on all aspects of the function.
    • Continually evaluates and, where necessary, redesigns all aspects of Athletic programs and processes with the goal of improving their efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Keeps up-to-date with innovative developments and trends in the field of school Athletics.
    • Makes the most of all opportunities to continue developing as a professional; acts to keep self professionally competent and upgrades own leadership capability.
    • Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards, acting as a role model.

    B. Staff Leadership
    • Leads all staff members who work in the Athletic Department.
    • Ensure that the athletics program is informed by and is representative of the school’s commitment to diversity in its athletes and coaching staff.
    • Guides inspire and motivate staff to perform at their very best. Recruits and strives to retain talented staff.
    • Orients and assists new staff in assimilation.
    • Defines responsibilities and accountabilities for staff members.
    • Plans and guides the professional development of staff.
    • Identifies annual goals for all direct reports.
    • Informally and formally evaluates direct reports’ performance and provides feedback regarding their performance. Coaches and/or mentors team members.
    • Involves staff members in decisions that impact their work.
    • Advocates for staff concerns, issues, and problems by representing them, as necessary, to school leadership.
    • Collaborates with co-workers in many forums and venues to share one’s expertise and achieve the mission of the school. Promotes a collegial and collaborative environment in others.

    Qualifications:
    • Previous head coaching experience in soccer is required
    • In-depth knowledge and experience in soccer
    • "D" Level certification or higher in coaching preferred
    • Ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card
    • Demonstrated ability to mentor student-athletes
    • Must be self-motivated, positive, and energetic
    • Current (dated within a year) clearances
    Essential Duties:
    • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to teach, motivate, and counsel student-athletes effectively
    • Assesses players' skills and assigns team positions
    • Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development
    • Works with the Athletic Director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition in a timely manner
    • Assigns duties to an assistant coach as necessary
    • Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport
    • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior and provides proper supervision of athletes at all times
    • Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury
    • Follows NFHS, school, and league regulations governing the athletic program and sport
    • Maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators
    • Participates in special activities to include parent nights, banquets, award nights, and assemblies
    • Maintains all school required records
    • Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Head of School and Athletic Director or other appropriate administrators
    • Willingness to travel
