  • Athletic Coaches - Fall 2019

    Position: Athletic Coaching
    Reports to: Director of Athletics
    Department: Athletics
    Location: O'Neill Sports Center

    Job Summary: Malvern Prep’s Athletics Department prides itself on the coaches who play a critical role in not only mentoring but also helping to shape our boys into excellent young men. In general, our coaches are responsible for assisting in all phases of the athletic program, mainly planning and participating in practice to develop student athletes, and any other duties assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, it is essential that our Coaches believe in the idea that we put team goals before our own, where we are “one team all in.”

    We are seeking the following coaching positions for the Fall, 2019:
    • Assistant Rowing Coach (1)
    • Assistant Indoor Track & Field Coaches - Sprints OR Distance Events
    • Freshman Basketball Coach
    • 8th Grade Basketball Coach
    Qualifications:
    • Previous coaching or playing experience is preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to mentor student athletes
    • Must be self-motivated, positive, and energetic
    • Current (dated within a year) clearances.
    Essential Duties:
    • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to teach, motivate, and counsel student-athletes effectively
    • Eager to teach
    • Willingness to travel.
    • Competencies Required:
    • Able to work effectively with other team members.
    • Passionate about actively supporting the School’s mission.

    Position: Chef
    Reports to: Director of Dining Services
    Department: Dining Services
    Status: Full Time
    Location: Stewart Hall

    Job Summary: We are seeking a Chef who can apply culinary and organizational skills to cafeteria operations in a way that supports Malvern Prep's ambitious aspirations. The Chef will lead the daily culinary production in preparation and serving of food items to students and/or staff and keeps food service facilities safe and sanitary. Lastly, and perhaps most important, it is essential that this individual embraces Malvern's mission and core values in all facets of the role, as well as demonstrate a clear commitment toward our school's diversity initiative.
    Qualifications:
    • Five years of kitchen experience required, with some supervisory or managerial responsibilities preferred
    • Serve Safe and Food Management certification as required by the Chester County Department of Health. To be completed within 6 months of hire date
    • Flexible and long hours occasionally required, including nights and weekends
    • Current (dated within a year) clearances
    Essential Duties:
    • Supervise and participate in the production, preparation, portioning, presentation, and storage of all foods for the kitchen to ensure that a premium quality product is consistently produced
    • Along with the Director of Dining Services and the Sous Chef, plan all meals and menus for the Dining Hall and catered events with attention to creativity, variety, and cost control
    • Forecast food usage and monitor inventory for purchasing proper amounts of food
    • Ensures that kitchen, equipment, and storage facilities are sanitary, neat, and organized in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
    • Maintain the role of Department Manager in absence of Director of Dining Services
    • Experience leading a group, delegating, and monitoring staff performance while fostering a positive teamwork environment
    • Supervise and train kitchen personnel in proper production and food handling procedures
    Competencies Required:
    • Must be Customer Service oriented
    • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly, both oral and written
    • Able to efficiently work independently or with others as a team
    • Ability to perform duties of the job including the ability to push/pull/lift up to 50 pounds and to stand for the entire shift
    • Neat, clean, and professional appearance

  • Costume Designer

    2017 - 2018
    Position: Costume Designer
    Reports to: Director of High School or Middle School productions
    Department: Upper School and Middle School
    Status: Part-Time after school and weekends

    Job Summary
    Applies creative thinking and depth of knowledge to design, execute, and foster a student centered theatre program that is in support of Malvern Prep’s ambitious aspirations. Supports the school’s mission by providing students with the opportunity to gain an understanding of the necessary skills needed to be a stage wise actor, or theatre technician. Supports both the creative team and student actors and technicians. Works collaboratively with a dedicated team in a professional manner in creating the costume plot for the Upper School drama, Musical, and Middle School musical. Designs, executes, and develops the costumes for each high school and middle school team. Supports the Director of the HS or MS show in the many logistics of the production to ensure a smooth creative process and that all goals are met in a timely fashion.

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in costume design, fashion, theater, education, or related field
    • Evidence of a commitment to a team-based environment
    • Current (dated within a year) clearances

    Essential Duties
    • Work collaboratively with the Directors of MTS
    • Design the costume plot for two high school shows and one middle school production
    • Run wardrobe throughout the dress rehearsals and productions
    • Supervise a small team of students in the design process and costume execution
    • Coordinate parent volunteers, as needed.
    • Communicate with the parents in coordinating any items that the student may have to bring in as part of their costume
    • Properly clean costumes after each production
    • Works with the students to restock all cleaned costumes at the end of each production
    • Aids in proper supervision which may include before, during, and after rehearsals and performances
    • Model and develop a healthy and respectful environment between team members and students
    • Support students in a way that builds confidence
    • Regularly communicates (ie. team meetings, informal check ins, etc.with the team to ensure all goals are being met

    Competencies Required
    • Ability to design, sew, and alter costumes for each of the School’s three shows
    • Excellent interpersonal and intrapersonal communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
    • Good time management skills
    • Proficiency in technology (ie. Microsoft, google, social media, etc.)

    Position: Middle School Choreographer
    Reports to: Director of the Middle School Show
    Department: Arts
    Status: Part-Time, after school and weekends

    Job Summary:
    Applies creative thinking and depth of knowledge to design, execute, and create a student-centered theatre program that is in support of Malvern Prep's ambitious aspirations. Supports the school's mission by providing students with the opportunity to gain an understanding of the necessary skills needed to be a stage-wise actor. Works collaboratively with a dedicated team in a professional manner in creating the Middle School Musical. Supports a diverse and inclusive environment and ensures that the students gain a healthy experience in dance and stage movement that enhances their theatre experience.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in dance or a related field
    • Evidence of a commitment to a team-based environment
    • Current (dated within a year) clearances
    Essential Duties:
    • Choreograph the Middle School Musical
    • Collaborate with the other directors on the audition process and casting
    • Work collaboratively with the creative team in creating the overall look of the show
    • Model and develop a healthy and respectful environment between team members and students
    • Support students in a way that builds confidence
    • Aids in proper supervision, which may include before, during, and after rehearsal and performances
    • Foster student leadership where appropriate (i.e. dance captains)
    • Attend regularly scheduled meetings with the creative team to ensure all goals are being met
