Malvern alum Mark Lindsay '95, a 16-year NBA referee, has found his most meaningful role on the courts of Treasure Beach, Jamaica. For over a decade, Mark has volunteered annually at the PMBL Basketball Camp, where his favorite title isn't "NBA referee" but simply "Coach Mark."
During the 2025 camp, Mark's connection with eight-year-old camper Deshaun exemplified this philosophy. When Deshaun asked, "Coach Mark, do you believe in me?" Mark's simple but powerful response—"Of course I do, buddy!"—created a bond that lasted throughout the camp. For the remainder of the week, whenever Deshaun needed reassurance, Mark would catch his eye and silently mouth those same affirming words: "I believe in you."
