Malvern Prep Baseball and Lacrosse Capture 2026 Inter-Ac Champion Title

Malvern Prep Baseball and Lacrosse continued their stellar seasons this week, with both programs clinching the 2026 Inter-Ac Championship titles.

Lacrosse Claims Sixth Inter-Ac Title in 10 Years

The Varsity Lacrosse team improved to a perfect 9-0 league record following a dominant 20-3 victory over Penn Charter. Led by senior captains Dan Riely, Dylan Novak, Thomas Ploszay, and Mac Crawford, the Friars have excelled as a cohesive unit with exceptional chemistry and connectivity on the field.

A strong defensive core has been the foundation of the team’s success this season, holding opponents to just 6.5 goals per game. One of the season’s biggest highlights came when the team defeated The Haverford School twice in the same season for the first time since 2022 and only the second time in the past 12 years. The team’s overtime victory over Episcopal Academy further demonstrated the squad's toughness, resilience, and composure.

The championship marks the Friars’ sixth Inter-Ac League title in the last 10 years.

Baseball Secures Eighth Inter-Ac Title in 10 Seasons

The Varsity Baseball team captured the Inter-Ac League title with a commanding 17-0 victory over Penn Charter, improving to 27-4 overall. The championship marks the Friars’ eighth league title in the past 10 seasons and their sixth consecutive Inter-Ac crown.

The Friars have been dominant on the mound throughout league play. Starters Collin Romanczuk ’27 and Jack Herbein ’26 have delivered outstanding performances this season.

Romanczuk posted a 4-0 league record while allowing just three runs over 26 innings pitched for an impressive 0.81 ERA. Herbein went 4-1 in league play, with his only loss shortened by an early exit due to a blister, while allowing only four earned runs across 24 innings. He also recorded 25 strikeouts and a 1.17 ERA.

Offensively, the Friars have showcased a balanced lineup, with eight regular starters batting over .300 in league play. Jalen Bowman ’27 is hitting .400 with three home runs, while Brady Abate ’26 is batting .429 with a .636 on-base percentage. Abate also leads the team in league play with 10 runs scored and 11 walks.

Several Friars also reached major milestones this season. Bowman set a new school record with his 38th stolen base, surpassing the previous mark set last year by Chase Ecker ’25. Jackson Melconian ’26 and Brady Abate ’26 each recorded their 100th career run scored, while Herbein earned his 100th career strikeout.

Congratulations to both Malvern Prep Baseball and Lacrosse, and best of luck in the remainder of your seasons!
