Malvern Prep Baseball Wins Fourth Consecutive PAISAA State Title

Malvern Prep Baseball faced off against league rival Germantown Academy on Wednesday, May 27, in the PAISAA State Championship. Entering the game on a 10-game winning streak, Malvern secured a 2–0 victory to claim the PAISAA Championship, extending its streak to 11 games and finishing the season with an impressive 34–4 record.

It was a pitcher’s duel from the start. Germantown Academy scattered a few hits but was unable to score, while Jack Herbein ’26 threw 5.1 no-hit innings. Collin Romanczuk ’27 entered the top of the sixth inning with one out and finished the inning strong, keeping Germantown scoreless.

In the bottom of the sixth, leadoff hitter Jalen Bowman ’27 drew a walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. Brady Abate ’26 moved him to third with a groundout to first base. Jackson Melconian ’26 and Grady Forsberg ’28 both walked to load the bases for Cole Scarbinsky ’26, who delivered a deep sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Bowman for the first run of the game.

Bryan Cogliano ’26 followed with a double to right field that scored Melconian and gave the Friars a 2–0 lead. Romanczuk returned to the mound in the top of the seventh and recorded the final three outs to complete the no-hitter. Malvern’s sixth no-hitter of the season.

The victory capped off an incredible season for the Friars, who captured both the Inter-Ac and PAISAA Championships, marking the program’s fourth consecutive PAISAA title.
