Malvern Prep Cross Country Captures PAISAA Title

The Malvern Prep Cross Country team capped off an incredible season with a victory at the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association (PAISAA) State Championship, reclaiming the title with a team score of 76 points. The Friars edged out defending champions Penn Charter and Episcopal Academy in a hard-fought, close race.

Leading the way for Malvern Prep was Brock Yoder ’27, who turned in a historic performance to win the individual title in a record-breaking time of 15:44, setting a new PAISAA meet record. His dominant run set the tone for the Friars and provided the spark the team needed to bring the championship back to Warren Avenue.

Behind Yoder, seniors Alex de Vries ’26 and Chase Niewinski ’26 delivered veteran performances, finishing in the top 10 and 20, respectively. The race came down to the final half mile, with Malvern Prep trailing Episcopal Academy by nine points. With Yoder and de Vries already across the finish line, Niewinski surged past six runners, while Zach Fellman ’29 gained five more positions to erase the deficit. Nico Velez ’28 sealed the championship with a final push, passing Episcopal’s last scoring runner to clinch the title for Malvern. Noah Monestere ’27 and Killian Todd ’27 also contributed key performances; their strong runs rounded out the Varsity scoring.

Congratulations to the Friars on their 2025 PAISAA State Championship victory!
