On Friday, May 10, the Flyers Cup Committee held their annual awards banquet at the Wells Fargo Center. At the luncheon, the Committee honored the All-Flyers Cup selections and the Flyers Cup Champions. Malvern Prep seniors Jeremy Jacobs and Brady Doyle were recognized as All-Flyers Cup First Team selections. Jeremy also received the Bobbly Clarke Award, which recognizes the player with the most points scored throughout the Flyers Cup Tournament.
In addition to the awards portion of the luncheon, the banquet celebrated the incredible community outreach by the Philadelphia Flyers Alumni Association. As part of their, “Every Child Deserves a Bike,” initiative that began in 2020, Flyers Cup Chairman, Eric Tye, presented a custom-made adaptive bicycle to this year’s recipient, Connor Keenan.
Connor is the son of Malvern Prep Head Varsity Ice Hockey Coach, Bill Keenan. Connor was born with Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome (RTS), a rare genetic disorder. The bicycle was custom-built for Connor, giving him the ability to ride a bike with guidance.
Surrounded by family and members of the Flyers Cup Community Connor proudly took his first ride on his new bike with assistance from Malvern Prep seniors Brady Doyle and Jeremy Jacobs. Click here to view the moving moment and view photos from the event below.
