Malvern Prep Rowing Shines on National Stage with Three Championships

Malvern Prep Rowing delivered one of the most successful national championship performances in program history at the 2026 SRAA Scholastic National Championships, as the Friars earned three national titles, a bronze medal finish, and multiple top performances against the nation’s elite scholastic rowing programs.

Competing on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Malvern Prep qualified five boats for the national championship regatta: the Senior 4x, Senior 2x, Junior 4x, Lightweight 2x, and Freshmen 4x.

The Friars were led by historic victories in the Boys Senior 4x and Boys Senior 2x. Malvern’s Senior 4x of Will Bentley ’26, Rory Coleman ’27, Jack Arbogast ’26, and Brendan Schuck ’26 captured the national championship with a winning time of 4:48.700, while the Senior 2x crew of Nick Mejzak ’26 and Finn Kennedy ’26 also raced to a national title after an outstanding weekend of competition. The victories marked only the second time in program history that Malvern Prep has won both the Senior 2x and Senior 4x at the same SRAA National Championship regatta.

Malvern Prep’s Freshmen 4x of Brayden Rigler ’29, Evan Hall ’29, Luke Cognata ’29, and Dean Johnson ’29 added another gold medal performance, winning the national championship in 5:07.360. The victory marked the first-ever SRAA National Championship for a Malvern Prep Freshmen 4x and highlighted the strength and future of the Friars’ rowing program.

The Lightweight 2x of Connor Slavin ’26 and Duke Zdancewicz ’26 earned a bronze medal finish in one of the regatta’s most competitive events, taking third place nationally with a time of 5:31.810 after a strong series of races throughout the weekend.

The Junior 4x of Nate Logue ’28, Brady Donovan ’28, Patrick Davis ’27, and Ryan Danish ’28 also represented the Friars at a high level, advancing through preliminary and semifinal competition against one of the deepest fields at the national championship regatta.

Across all five entries, Malvern Prep Rowing showcased exceptional depth, speed, and consistency on the national stage. Competing against top scholastic programs from across the United States, the Friars once again established themselves among the premier rowing programs in the country.
