Malvern Prep Swimming and Diving Win Inter-Ac Championship Title

The Malvern Prep Swimming and Diving team made a statement on January 20, edging Germantown Academy 94–92 in a thrilling dual meet to reclaim the Inter-Ac League title for the first time since 2019.

The Friars were led by junior Henry Anstine, who captured first place in both the 100 freestyle (45.50) and 200 freestyle (1:38.63), and Billy Beck ’26, who won the 50 freestyle (20.95) and 100 butterfly (49.84). Their leadership and speed set the tone for the meet and proved especially impactful in the relays, where Malvern’s depth and teamwork made the difference.

Malvern opened strong in the 200-medley relay, as the team of Brady Gallagher ’28 (24.88), Max Rose ’27 (26.50), Beck (21.79), and Alex de Vries ’26 (21.47) took first place. The momentum continued in the 200-freestyle relay, where Beck (20.92), Rose (21.83), Jonathan Richardson ’27 (21.70), and Anstine (21.37) combined for a winning time of 1:25.82. The meet came down to the final event, the 400-freestyle relay. In an exciting finish, Gallagher, de Vries, Richardson, and Anstine completed a come-from-behind victory to seal the championship.

“We are so proud of all the swimmers and divers. It feels great to bring a championship win back to Warren Avenue,” said Head Varsity Swim Coach Paul Edwards ’10.

Congratulations to Malvern Prep Swimming and Diving!
