Malvern Prep Track & Field Wins PAISAA State Title

For the second consecutive year, Malvern Prep Track & Field captured the PAISAA State Championship, edging 2026 Inter-Ac Champion Haverford School in a tightly contested meet. The Friars were led by co-MVPs Gunner Benedix ’27 and Brock Yoder ’27.

Benedix delivered a meet-best 36 points, claiming the javelin title with a throw of 168’ 6” and pulling off an upset victory in the long jump at 23’ 0.25”. Ranked sixth entering the meet, he also earned runner-up finishes in the 110m hurdles (14.92) and pole vault (13’ 0”).

Yoder completed the demanding “distance double” in challenging heat, winning the 1600m in 4:14.11 and the 3200m in 9:43.09. Just moments later, he returned to anchor the 4x400m relay.

Jack Morley ’26 capped a spectacular season in the discus by setting a new school record with a winning throw of 156’ 6”. He also contributed valuable team points in the shot put, finishing fourth with a lifetime-best mark of 46’ 0”. Fellow throws standout Max Ortega ’27 was equally impressive, winning the shot put title with a personal-best throw of 49’ 9” and placing fourth in the discus at 131’ 10”. Trey Gibson ’26 concluded his outstanding career with a silver medal in the long jump (22’ 3.5”) while also scoring an eighth-place point in the 200m (23.09).

The championship marks another milestone for Malvern Prep Track & Field. With the victory, Track & Field joins Cross Country and Winter Track as PAISAA State Champions, marking the first time in school history that all three programs have captured PAISAA titles.
