Malvern Prep is proud to announce the hiring of two new Head Varsity Coaches for our Rowing and Tennis programs.
James Konopka is Malvern’s new Head Varsity Rowing Coach. Coach Konopka brings a wealth of rowing and coaching experience to us. While rowing at the University of Pennsylvania, he competed in the National Championships for the Intercollegiate Rowing Association all four years. In 2016, he received the Captain’s Award and served as team captain of the men’s lightweight team from 2017- 2018. In addition, he took many leadership roles off the water, such as assisting with fundraising, recruiting, and social media, among many others. Coach Konopka's fall rowing team is up and running and getting ready to compete in the fall racing season! Best of luck, Coach Konopka!
Michael Rose ’85 joins Malvern’s coaching staff as our new Head Varsity Tennis Coach. Coach Rose is a proud alumnus who excelled in two sports during his time at Malvern Prep - tennis and football. He was a five-year member of our varsity tennis program during the time when Malvern tennis was very competitive in the Inter-Ac and Philadelphia region. Coach Rose continues to be an avid tennis player, playing at a very high level in USTA tournaments and men’s leagues. He follows the game closely, gives lessons, and is excited about our tennis season. Coach Rose and his wife, Sasha are the proud parents of alum Sam ’17, Sofia, and current freshman, Max. He is the owner of Xamchem, LLC. Welcome home, Coach Rose!
