Malvern Prep celebrated a significant milestone with the official blessing and dedication of its state-of-the-art baseball turf field on Saturday, April 13, just ahead of the matchup between Malvern Prep and Springfield High School. Rev. William Gabriel, O.S.A., led the blessing.
Several Malvern Prep baseball alumni came together to commemorate the inauguration of this beautiful new field. Among them were Joe Redican ’60 P’88 and John Campbell ’60, who graciously escorted a lineup of notable baseball alumni — Joe Poduslenko ’13, Phil Gosselin ’07, James Spinelli ’04 P’25, Ryan Edginton ’99 P’28, and Ben Davis ’95 P’24 T — to the pitcher’s mound for the ceremonial first pitch. Mason Clark ’24, Peter Bozzone ’25, Jake Bauer ’25, and Jeff Hilliard ’95 stood ready to receive these ceremonial throws. Tague Davis ’24, representing our current student-athletes, also took his place on the mound, delivering a pitch to Holden Stephenson ’27, highlighting the spirit of tradition that binds past, present, and future generations of Malvern Prep student-athletes.
The ceremony showcased not only the excitement of another baseball season but also the sense of pride in the commitment to excellence that defines Malvern Prep’s athletic program. As the cheers echoed across the field, it was evident that this new turf field represented more than just a playing surface — it was a testament to the enduring spirit of achievement and camaraderie that thrives within the Malvern Prep Community.
