Mothers’ Club Gathers for Opening Mass and Reception

The Malvern Prep Mothers’ Club celebrated the beginning of a new academic year at the Mothers’ Club Opening Mass and Reception on Tuesday, September 10.

The Mass was presided over by Rev. William Gabriel, O.S.A. During his homily, Fr. Gabriel reflected on the importance of mother figures and how significant their advice is to their children. He reminded the group that in moments when everything feels imperfect, and you worry about not doing enough as a mother, Christ’s message to us is to let go of the pressure, or as Fr. Bill remarked 'let it drip.' When life becomes overwhelming embrace your calling and let the insignificant worries drip away.

Mr. Patrick Sillup, Head of School, expressed his gratitude for the vital role the Mothers' Club plays in the Malvern Prep Community, describing them as an essential part of an ecosystem that nurtures and supports the growth of the students. He emphasized, “You are a group of people that help us ultimately support the boys on our campus, your boys, as they become bigger, stronger, and better versions of themselves—something we could not do alone.”

Mothers’ Club President, Mrs. Jen Davis P’27’29, addressed her fellow moms and encouraged them to form their own connections to Malvern Prep. “This community unites us. The Mothers’ Club brings all of us together to enjoy time with each other and with our boys.”

After Mass, mothers were invited to the Quad for refreshments, light fare, and camaraderie.
