Class of 2023 Celebrates Advancement Ceremony

Congratulations to the Class of 2023 who celebrated their Advancement Ceremony on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Our Mother of Good Counsel Chapel.
The 8th Grade Advancement Ceremony is an opportunity for families and the Middle School faculty to celebrate the students moving to the high school. Rev. Donald F. Reilly, O.S.A., D. Min. served as the main celebrant for the liturgy, with Rev. James Cassidy, O.S.A., Rev. Christopher Drennen, O.S.A. '73, Rev. James Flynn, O.S.A., and Rev. Harry Erdlen, O.S.A. as the concelebrants.

Music was provided by Mr. Tony DelPizzo '11, Middle School Music Teacher, as well as Gabriel Bedwell '25, Noah Buscaglia '22, Jonah Buscaglia '24, Hunter Jones, Jr. '23, Logan Kelley '23, and Aiden Murray '23.

Awards and Advancement Certificates were handed out by Mr. Rob Buscaglia P'22'24, 8th Grade Academy Leader, and Mr. Patrick Sillup, Assistant Head of School for Academics, respectively.

Ryan McLaughlin '23 followed the certificate presentation with a speech about his time in the Middle School and looking forward to high school.

Advancement Awards:

Mother of Good Counsel Award for Student Involvement and Leadership: Carson Myers
This award is given to the person who epitomizes what we want a Malvern Middle School student to be like. Someone who has gotten involved in the school, someone who has not only supported school activities but has taken a leadership role in promoting and participating in them.

Virgulti Annual Science Award: Miles Conn
This award is given to a student with a high interest in the Natural Sciences and great scientific ability.

Scholar Athlete Award: Gerald Tiffan III
This award is given to a student who has been a success in the classroom and on the playing field. This student has carried himself like a winner by his attitude, effort, and behavior, both in and out of the classroom.

Arts Scholar Award: Logan Kelley
This award is given to a student who has been a great leader, active participant and advocate for the Arts Department at Malvern Prep. This student also demonstrates his exceptional talent, creativity, growth, and understanding in the classroom and beyond.

Excellence in Citizenship Award: Robert Mears IV
This award is given to a student who participates in school and/or community service, shows a positive attitude toward classmates, school, and the community, displays an understanding and appreciation of civic responsibility, possess strength of character and the courage to do what is right, and promotes citizenship within his school or community through other activities.

The Saint Augustine Award for Christian Leadership: Jake Marrone
This award is given to a student who shows Christian leadership in words and actions. In Augustinian tradition, he is a young man who has demonstrated caring and concern to his classmates. He has served the school well by being a role model for others to follow.

President's Award Ambassador for Malvern: Tyson McGee
This award is given to a student who in the spirit of Father Duffy represents our school in the most positive light. The recipient is a true ambassador for Malvern Prep and exemplifies qualities of goodwill, kindness, and respect to the entire Malvern community.

Academic Excellence Award for Eighth Grade: Joaquin Alban, Miles Conn, and Carson Myers
This award is given to the student or students with the highest cumulative GPA for the 2018-2019 school year.
