Congratulations to Fran Dunphy '66 who was inducted into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame on Thursday, November 7, at SugarHouse Event Center. Dunphy is part of the 15-member class that was inducted.

Ryan Kennedy '20, James Gradisek '21, Keller Mulhern '22, and Henry Fish '22 represented the Friars in the Hill School Invitational. Thirty-six players and 7 teams competed in this 18-hole stroke play event. The Friars finished 2nd in the team competition (top 3 of 4 scores) with a score of 244, ten shots behind the winner Hill School (234). In the individual event, James Gradisek finished T-4 with a 79, Keller Mulher T-11 (82) and Ryan Kennedy and Henry Fish finished T-14 with closing scores of 83.
Nick Harris ’22 recently won the 14-15 y.o. Boys 1 Meter Springboard event at the USA Diving Jr. National Championship held at the University of Tennessee. The 64 boys in the event represented the top divers from across the country who qualified to compete at Nationals through regional and zone qualifying meets held throughout the US. Nick also won the bronze medal on the 3-meter Springboard event and finished 5th in the country in the Platform diving event.
Sophomore Aidan Cullen sailing out of Ocean City Yacht Club was awarded the series Championship in the laser radial fleet at an awards ceremony held at the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City on August 13thfor winning the Mid-Atlantic Yacht Racing Association South Jersey Summer Series.
Last week, Spencer Barnhart '23, Nicholas Feldman '22, Caden Rogers '22, Hunter Sloan '22, and Jack Wehmeyer '22 competed at the Cadet Greco-Roman Nationals as part of Team Pennsylvania in Fargo, North Dakota.
Rowing alumni Casey Lauder '19 (George Washington University) and Andre Quintiliani '18 (Dartmouth College) joined Haverford School alumni and Shipley School alumni competing at the USRowing Club Nationals event in Ohio.
Seven Malvern rowers recently competed in the 2019 USRowing National Championships in Cincinnati, Ohio as representatives of the Conshohocken Rowing Center. Two rowers, Quinn Hall '21 and Jason Kennedy '20, along with two rowers from Conestoga High School, took home the gold in the Under 19 Quad event.

The 35th annual Joseph J. Barrett Sr. Memorial All-Star Game on Saturday, June 1 at Neumann University's Bruder Field was more than just a showcase of some of the top senior baseball players in Delaware County. Rowing Competes in Scholastic National Rowing Championships May 26, 2019 Malvern's Varsity Lightweight Quad and Varsity Heavyweight Quad finished second and third in the country at last weekend's Scholastic National Rowing Championships in Ohio. Both races were close and fiercely contested. The Varsity Heavyweight Quad was comprised of Matt Davis, Jason Kennedy, Quinn Hall, and Andrew Morris. The Varsity Lightweight Quad was comprised of Cormac Delaney, Collin Munyan, Edmund Park, and Dan Ward.
The Varsity Heavyweight Quad and Varsity Lightweight Double will travel to Sarasota, Florida on June 5 to race at USRowing's Youth National Championships for Schools and Clubs. Both teams qualified in early May.
Any number of players on either team could have turned out to be the hero of Saturday night’s Pennsylvania Independent Schools baseball championship game. But it was Malvern Prep’s Cam Conley who came up with the final clutch play with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning when he lined a hit over the left fielder’s head to bring home a runner from second and give the Friars a 5-4 win over Perkiomen School at Upper Perkiomen High School. Rowing Competes in Stotesbury Regatta May 19, 2019 Three of four Malvern crews advanced to the semi-finals in last weekend's Stotesbury Regatta, while two teams continued on to compete in the finals. The Junior Quad team finished fourth, while the Varsity Heavyweight Quad finished fifth in the finals.
Four crews qualified at the City Championships for the Scholastic National Rowing Championships in Ohio. Rowers will compete in the Junior Double, Varsity Lightweight Double, Varsity Lightweight Quad, and Varsity Heavyweight Quad events.

Rowing Qualifies for US Youth Rowing Championships May 11, 2019 Last weekend, Malvern rowers qualified two boats for the US Rowing Youth National Rowing Championships for Schools and Clubs in Sarasota, FL in June. The Varsity Heavyweight Quad (Matt Davis, Quinn Hall, Jason Kennedy, and Andrew Morris) and Varsity Lightweight Double (Colin Munyan and Dan Ward) finished second in Saturday's time trial against crews from PA, MD, and NJ. Final races were canceled due to weather. The team is back in action this weekend at the Stotesbury Regatta in Philadelphia.

Wrestling Competes in War at the Shore Tournament April 20, 2019 The Wrestling team competed in the nationally-renowned War at the Shore Tournament in Wildwood, NJ over Easter weekend. Reed Fulmer was named one of the Outstanding Wrestlers from the tournament and won the 119 lb weight class in the Boys Intermediate category. Bryson Drummond won the 105 lb weight class in the Boys Midget category, Rocco Lombardo won the 56 lb weight class in the Boys Bantam category. View the full results.
Friars compete in final Manny Flick Regatta April 14, 2019 The Manny Flick Regatta series concluded on Sunday, April 14. The Friars finished second in the 2019 Horvat Trophy team standing out of 20 teams. Malvern rowers won the Junior Single and Varsity Lightweight Doubles, finished second in the Novice Double, Varsity Heavyweight Double, and Varsity Lightweight Quad. They finished third in the Junior Double Event, and the Varsity Heavyweight Quad finished sixth with a steering interference penalty.

Baseball Opens Season During Spring Break Trip to Florida March 28, 2019 The Friars opened their season on Sunday, March 24, with a 10-2 win over the Jefferson City Jays in Florida. On Monday, March 25, they beat Toby Booker Academy (8-6). On Tuesday, March 26, the Friars had wins over Buckingham Browne & Nichols (Cambridge, MA) (9-2) and Monticello (MN) (12-2). On Wednesday, March 27, they beat Lawrence Academy (MA) 9-5. During their first game on Thursday, March 28, the Friars beat Lancaster 15-1. They are currently 6-0 during the trip with four games left to play.
Coach Jeff Tambroni often attributes his team’s success to the locker room dynamic. He credits the leadership of his captains Matt Donnelly, Mike Aronow and Chris Sabia for sustaining such a tight-knit group throughout the course of the season. Rowing Competes in First Manny Flick Regatta of the Season The Friars had a fair day at the first Manny Flick Regatta of the season on Sunday, March 17. The Junior Quad took first in their race, the Junior Double took second in their race, the Varsity Lightweight Quad took third, and the Varsity Heavyweight Quad took fourth. Frank and Ronnie Venonsky, parents of Julian Venonsky '11 - current USA National Team coxswain - stopped by the event to cheer on the Friars.

Over the weekend of February 2-3, the Squash team won their first match at the High School Nationals in Connecticut. The Friars beat Fordham Prep 7-0. The team also placed third in their division - congratulations!
Basketball 81, Parkland 67 January 27, 2019 The Friars took home the win after a tough game against Parkland. Parkland had an early lead at the end of the first quarter, and both teams were tied at the half. The Friars pulled away and outscored their competitor 21-8 in the fourth quarter. Duece Turner had 35 points, Rahdir Hicks and Fran Oschell both scored 21 points.
Deuce Turner '20 and Rahdir Hicks '21 were both honored during the Hoop Group Showcase Tournament on Sunday, January 24. Turner was named MVP and Hicks was named to the 1st Team. The Friars beat Parkland 81-67. Congratulations!
Five Malvern Wrestlers Medal at Escape the Rock Competition January 21, 2019 Nick Feldman went 4-2 in the two-day tournament at Council Rock South, finishing fourth. Dayton DelViscio netted a third-place finish, the highest for the Friars in the competition. Dalton Harkins took fifth, Caden Rogers placed seventh, and Nick Florschutz placed eighth. Swimming & Diving Places First at National Catholic Championships January 20, 2019 The Friars won the 2019 National Catholic Swimming & Diving Championship last weekend at Loyola University (MD). The team scored 346 points, its highest total in the 83 years of the championship. Georgetown Prep (DC) finished 2nd with a score of 245.5 and Loyola Blakefield finished 3rd with 236 points. The Friars were paced by Matt Magness (Swimmer of the Meet) who won gold medals in the 200 free (1:40.52) and the 500 free (4:32.53 - breaking his own school record). Magness teamed up with Connor Cary, Lou Franzone, and Matt Hopkins to win the 200 free relay (1:25.78). Nick Harris took first in the 1m Diving Event (292.70 - six dives). The 200 medley relay team of Jack Cassidy, Ryan Durkan, Ryan Maher, and Matt Hopkins won the silver medal and also set a new school record with a clocking of 1:34.35. Trevor Henderson (Diving) and Matt Hopkins (100 free) won bronze medals in their respective events. Congratulations!

Malvern swept the relays and had individual wins from Matt Magness (200 IM and 500 free), Ryan Maher (50 free), Nick Harris (1m diving), Jack Cassidy (100 back), and Ryan Durkan (100 breast).

Swimming 93, Episcopal Academy 93 January 10, 2019 The Friars hosted Episcopal Academy and the meet ended in a 93-93 tie. The Friars are now 1-0-1 in Inter-Ac League action. Nick Harris took first in diving with a score of 340.02, setting a new pool record. Ryan Durkan took first in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:00.62.
Swimming 103, The Haverford School 81 January 8, 2019 The Friars took home the W in their first game of Inter-Ac competition against The Haverford School. The depth and 1, 2, and 3 place finishers in diving were the keys to the team's victory. Matt Magness was a quadruple winner taking first in the 200m free and 400m free and he was part of the winning 200m and 400m free relays. Ryan Maher, Lou Franzone, and Connor Cary were all triple winners, while Jack Cassidy was a double winner taking the 100m back and medley relay. Nick Harris, Trevor Henderson, and Marshall Beckett took 1, 2, 3 in the diving portion of the meet.

The team led 41-27 at the half, and by the end of the third quarter, GA was down 74-45.
