  • Athletic Coaches - Fall 2018

    Position: Athletic Coaching
    Reports to: Director of Athletics
    Department: Athletics
    Location: O'Neill Sports Center

    Job Summary: Malvern Prep's Athletics Department prides itself on the coaches who play a critical role in not only mentoring, but also helping to shape our boys into excellent young men. In general, our coaches are responsible for assisting in all phases of the athletic program, mainly planning and participating in practice to develop student athletes, and any other duties assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director. Lastly, and perhaps most important, it is essential that our Coaches believe in the idea that we put team goals before our own, where we are "one team all in."

    We are seeking the following coaching positions for Fall 2018:
    • Middle School Squash Coach
    • Assistant Track Coach (Pole Vault emphasis)

    Qualifications:
    • Previous coaching or playing experience is preferred
    • Demonstrated ability to mentor student athletes
    • Must be self-motivated, positive, and energetic
    • Current (dated within a year) clearances
    Essential Duties:
    • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to teach, motivate, and counsel student-athletes effectively
    • Eager to teach
    • Willingness to travel
    Competencies Required:
    • Able to work effectively with other team members
    • Passionate about actively supporting the School's mission

  • Costume Designer

    2017 - 2018
    Position: Costume Designer
    Reports to: Director of High School or Middle School productions
    Department: Upper School and Middle School
    Status: Part-Time after school and weekends

    Job Summary
    Applies creative thinking and depth of knowledge to design, execute, and foster a student centered theatre program that is in support of Malvern Prep’s ambitious aspirations. Supports the school’s mission by providing students with the opportunity to gain an understanding of the necessary skills needed to be a stage wise actor, or theatre technician. Supports both the creative team and student actors and technicians. Works collaboratively with a dedicated team in a professional manner in creating the costume plot for the Upper School drama, Musical, and Middle School musical. Designs, executes, and develops the costumes for each high school and middle school team. Supports the Director of the HS or MS show in the many logistics of the production to ensure a smooth creative process and that all goals are met in a timely fashion.

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in costume design, fashion, theater, education, or related field
    • Evidence of a commitment to a team-based environment
    • Current (dated within a year) clearances

    Essential Duties
    • Work collaboratively with the Directors of MTS
    • Design the costume plot for two high school shows and one middle school production
    • Run wardrobe throughout the dress rehearsals and productions
    • Supervise a small team of students in the design process and costume execution
    • Coordinate parent volunteers, as needed.
    • Communicate with the parents in coordinating any items that the student may have to bring in as part of their costume
    • Properly clean costumes after each production
    • Works with the students to restock all cleaned costumes at the end of each production
    • Aids in proper supervision which may include before, during, and after rehearsals and performances
    • Model and develop a healthy and respectful environment between team members and students
    • Support students in a way that builds confidence
    • Regularly communicates (ie. team meetings, informal check ins, etc.with the team to ensure all goals are being met

    Competencies Required
    • Ability to design, sew, and alter costumes for each of the School’s three shows
    • Excellent interpersonal and intrapersonal communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
    • Good time management skills
    • Proficiency in technology (ie. Microsoft, google, social media, etc.)
    • Team player

    Position: Director of Development & Partnerships
    Reports to: Executive Director of Advancement
    Department: Development
    Status: Full Time Exempt
    Location: Austin Hall

    Job Summary: The Director of Development & Partnerships is a motivated and goal oriented individual who applies strategic leadership, vision, and creative thinking to design and execute a comprehensive development program in support of Malvern Prep's ambitious aspirations. Leads the development team to develop, manage, and implement programs designed to attract the maximum gift support possible to the school. Collaborates closely with the Director of Marketing and the Director of Admissions to deliver an integrated and innovative approach to school advancement. Embraces Malvern's mission and core values in all facets of the development process and coaches, guides, and mentors others to do the same. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, it is essential that the candidate believes in the idea that we put team goals before our own, where we are "one team all in."

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree, CFRE and/or Masters preferred
    • 5+ years experience in Development
    • Current (dated within a year) clearances
    Essential Duties:
    • Under the direction of the Executive Director of Advancement, sets priorities with clear goals and objectives for the development department, building a strong operation with a donor-centric focus and a strong plan for donor stewardship.
    • Increases contributions and gifts by directly and personally engaging in active stewardship, cultivation, and direct solicitation of major donors.
    • Develops and implements innovative strategies to improve annual giving among parents, alumni, and other supporters. Keeps a strong focus on raising alumni participation and seeking out lost alumni.
    • Actively engages a committee to prospect and solicit gifts from the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC).
    • Provide oversight and direction for the Athletic Development program and solicit sponsorships.
    • Plans all types of capital campaigns and major gifts programs by overseeing the completion of a feasability study and ensuring that the office's database and research capabilities are first-rate.
    • Forges strong relationships with alumni, parents, and other potential supporters to influence and maximize contributions; communicates both Malvern's commitment to its enduring traditions and its exciting vision for the future - tailoring those messages as necessary to reach different audiences.
    • Supports, advises, and trains selected memberes of the Board and Malvern's Leadership Team in effective outreach to current and potential donors, including how to ask for contributions.
    • Collaborates with Strategic Marketing to create development marketing materials, mailings, and publications.
    • Works closely with the Admissions Office with regard to campaigns, fundraising, and to seek the support of former parents and alumni in the development process.
    • Assesses the quality and efficiency of the development process by keeping relevant reports and statistics on all aspects of the function.
    • Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards, acting as a role model.
    • Makes the most of all opportunities to continue developing as a professional, acts to keep self professionally competent and upgrades own leadership capability.
    • Manages development budget.

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with Google Drive and Raiser's Edge a plus
