Rosengarten Ranch

The Eighth Grade Garden that stood on the southeast side of campus in recent years has grown into something even more special, the newly established Rosengarten Ranch. The name ‘Rosengarten’ pays tribute to Harry Rosengarten, the original owner of the Warren Avenue estate that was sold to the Augustinian Province in 1922, paving the way for the relocation of Malvern Preparatory School from the campus of Villanova University.

The growth that happens outside in the Rosengarten Ranch is supported inside Malvern's 1,600 sq. ft. greenhouse. Seed starters begin in the greenhouse where the temperature is optimal, and each spring they are moved to raised beds in the ranch.

A portion of the fruits, vegetables, and fresh herbs that are being grown will be donated to Sanctuary Farm Phila, a non-profit organization and urban farm located in North Philadelphia. Their mission is to provide fresh, organically grown produce to the surrounding community.

As of November 2025, over 1700 pounds of fresh produce have been donated to Sanctuary Farm.

For volunteer interest and questions regarding the Rosengarten Ranch please contact Dr. James Fry, Director of the Rosengarten Ranch, at jfry@malvernprep.org.
